Re: Launch 2 scripts simulaneously, simply?

Thanks, pcmanbob.

I should have made it clearer that I would like to call the 2 scripts from another python script.
I have got the suggested command line method running ok.

Launch 2 scripts simulaneously, simply?

Is there a simple way to call 2 python scripts to run roughly in parallel? I want to call both python3 programs at the same time. There is no data transfer between the 2. One is a pygame display, the other flashing LED's via GPIO. I just want them to set off together. Exact parallel timing is not im...

Re: Raspistill parameter Question

Thanks for the replies. I am now not sure where to go from here. I am trying to use a NoIR camera and IR light as a motion sensing camera. I have the camera and light all set up and the program running. IR photos are working fine. The program takes pictures and compares the results. If a number of p...

Raspistill parameter Question

Hi,

I am trying to turn off the AWB for my camera, using the raspistill command.

I have tried all possibilities of brackets, off, etc.

eg.

raspistill -o -awb off cam.jpg

What it the correct syntax for the command?

thanks

Re: Where to publish project, and how?

I have put some more details on Github. I have managed to cobble a hopefully understandable wiring diagram. The wiring is pretty simple, just 2 components between the pi GPIO and the remote controller. I have also uploaded my 2 scripts which I use to test and use the device. I have added small detai...

Re: Where to publish project, and how?

Amazed that you're still following this! I have a working model, using touchscreen to enter the program, but basically it is pretty simple. You need 2 optocouplers 4N25, protected by 180 ohm resistors. They act as relays and you need to solder them across the S1 and S2 switches on the pool controlle...

Re: Where to publish project, and how?

Thank you both. Have opened a GitHub repository, and Fritzing looks just the thing.
Incidentally, rpdom, you provided the advice I needed to get my optocouplers in line - they form the heart of this project. Your advice is much appreciated,

Cheers,

Where to publish project, and how?

I have finished a Pi project, which uses a Pi to control a remote controller for an Endless Pool, allowing the pool to be used for interval training. I would like to publish details, but have 2 questions. 1. How do you produce those little wiring diagrams that people publish on these forums? 2. Whic...

Re: Can't view terminal on official 7" touchscreen

I'm struggling with this one too. I have an official touchscreen. I have written a script, which runs a tkinter graphics window. Once selections have been made in the window, the tkinter bit shuts down, and then calls a python 3 script. This script runs in terminal, and the terminal window is too bi...

Re: Case with LCD and with room for small GPIO board

Sorry, yes it is the official touchscreen I will be buying. The pimoroni seems closest to what I need, but I'd prefer a larger box at the back to enclose any, albeit very small, add-ons I'm using.

thanks,

Case with LCD and with room for small GPIO board

I'm just about to buy a touchscreen, but I need a case for it which would enclose a pi 3, together with a small board with a few small components (2 x resistors, 2 x optocouplers plus output wiring) plus room to connect this to the GPIO pins. It does not have to sit on the GPIO pins, just able to co...

Thanks Dougie, I'm tempted with tkinter. To be sure, I will be able to take the 3 numbers generated with tkinter and use them in a subsequent Python script?

Cheers

Which GUI for this project?

I am planning a project involving simple data entry using the pi touchscreen. I will need 3 numerical data fields displayed. The user will use GUI buttons on the touchscreen to increase/decrease the numerical values, which obviously need to be displayed as they change. Once the data is entered, a fu...

Detect Camera on boot up

Is it possible for a Pi3 to detect whether the camera is plugged in on boot up, and, if it is, automatically run a Python program?
If so, how?
Thanks,

This may be of use to you. I was also struggling with relays, eventually solved with optocoupler. At the end of the post there is a photo of how I got it to work

Have you tried typing 'detect button press pi' into Google?
It's a good place to start and will show you what you need.

I am using the Pi to complete a low-current circuit. I asked how to do it in another part of these forums and received very helpful answers. The link is here viewtopic.php?f=37&t=126105&p=926541#p926541

Scroll to the end to see how to do it.

Re: how to set an ip address

I have Bonjour running on my Windows 10, and my Jessie Pi 2 tells me that it looks like xrdp is already running, but I can't connect with RDC.

My Pi appears on my home network as xxxx. Do I type in xxxx.local as the name of the remote computer?

Thanks

Need an add-on, Buttons, LED's and GPIO

I am developing a controller, which uses 2 GPIO output pins (+GND). I would like to have an add-on which has a minimum of 2 buttons and a minimum of 2 LED's. As I say, I also need access to 2 GPIO pins. The PiFace CAD would be ideal, but Mr Lawson, elsewhere on the forums, says you can't use GPIO wi...

For the benefit of anyone else trying this, I have added a photo, showing one optocoupler wired up to my controller. This is what I have found out. It is not obvious from t...
