Re: rasperry+HDD

<t>So I went in to Maplins and bought 1TB FreeAgent® GoFlex™ Ultra-portable Hard Drive and a "found it at the back of a cupboard" half opened 3-port powered USB hub with integrated 5-in-1 card reader.  Plugged them in the Pi and it's all good - USB drive now formatted to ext3 and a swap partition, a...

Re: DEFINITE Raspi DSi screen list

All the major panel manufacturers support MIPI DSI. Have a look at http://www.trulydisplays.com/t.....index.html for instance.

Re: Greatest game of all time

<t>Excepting Shades (natch), it's clear that it's Chuckie Egg right?  JamesH, I'm well with you on Defender - have the Paper Arcade version under my monitor on my desk - but, BUT!  Chuckie Egg was the first game where I felt that *I* was in control of the motion of the charater and where the environ...

Re: BCM2835 datasheet

Unfortunately the sad fact is that the "commercial world" these days is patrolled by a myriad of litigious companies and patent trolls so everyone ends up keeping everything secret.

Re: Lets port Elite to the Raspberry PI

The original BBC Micro source is available - Ian Bell has it on his website. Not particularly useful in this context though!

Re: LVDS Interface

<r>The MIPI DSI standard that is mentioned above as being available on the RasPi header is totally different to "LVDS". When people say "LVDS" with respect to displays, they are actually referring to FPD-Link ( <URL url="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FPD-Link">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FPD-Link</U...

Re: Broadcom BCM2835 SoC

<t>Given its been said elsewhere that communication with the GPU is via a command stream, i.e. a data structure, then I don't see how API/ABI evolution of the kernel driver that creates that data structure will break the ability to communicate with the GPU? It would if that kernel driver was a binar...

Re: Broadcom BCM2835 SoC

<t>I'm scratching my head over the vitirol on this one. I'm a baby of the TRS-80 era and I'd love to introduce my two young girls to the "pure thought" excitement I had when I was 9 years old. I look at my old copies of Micro-80 and see and innocence and unbounded horizon of what I could acheive and...
