I haven't updated my PI in a while so I did sudo rpi-update and that broke a lot of things. How do I downgrade to the latest stable version?

This is my old model B+ I also have a raspberry PI 2, so I am not really mad. I might buy a raspberry PI 3 to have an extra Pi .

I can ssh into the PI. But sometimes the PI doesn't come on it stays solid green and red, also I put in the AV cable and the video output comes on then comes off in a few minutes and the TV says no signal.

Need help my PI seems to be damaged

I believe my Pi got struck by lightning. It was connected to an Ethernet cable and the router/phone got struck as well.
The Pi turns on but i don't see any video output with hdmi or AV cable.
