Wiring for USB C power (PI-4)

I have a decent buck converter supplying 5v (potentially up to 10A) on my scope it looks okay too... I plan to power both a small monitor (usb micro B) and the PI, I have some type B plugs, I'm guessing I may well be able to get away without a 200 ohm resistor on D- & D+ for the monitor.... My initi...

If by "this other program" you meant edid-decode the link is in my previous post (and also as a footnote to webpage examples I linked to). Trev. lol - must be man looking still couldn't see that link... anyhow everything is fixed now, but with an odd mystery! I ordered another micro to full hdmi (t...

Re: pi4 can't get video on a hdmi moitor

did you read the post linked by me? what did I miss ? do you mean not to use the edidparser that comes with the pi? I couldn't seem to find any info about this other program, github link ? are you saying I should feed it the same edid.dat, that the pi4 gets from the monitor anyway ? If I tell it to...

Re: pi4 can't get video on a hdmi moitor

I wasn't on my pi at the time, (have to drag all the kit back to my telly) so I just fixed some random out of date code of github which I repaired, just so I could throw something up there as I couln't post the actual data. is there something missing from the output, I can repost from a pi later if ...

pi4 can't get video on a hdmi moitor [Solved]

my pi4 works fine on my main telly but I bought a little screen for it which I can't get anything from (not even the initial rainbow splash) It works super with pi3 - giving really clear readable text in 1080p even with tiny fonts! so I really would like to get this monitor working with my pi4... ev...

SMI (secondary memory interface) swapfile

https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/blob/rpi-4.4.y/include/linux/broadcom/bcm2835_smi.h I notice there has been some work done and an overlay which allows access to the SMI (secondary memory interface) it occurred to me that a ?good? application for this could be for a swap file on say 4GB fast SRA...

alternative cable component (DSI)

I have one of the "official" LCD's as a project I thought it would be nice to put a PI inside one of those small USB keyboards (there is enough thickness with the LCD already) and put some kind of hinge mechanism to join the two Ideally I'd like some kind of DSI connector that is actually a cable, o...

I had a quick look at systemdOS but couldn't get it working nicely without systemd-udev so gave up... thanks, as its basically doing as little as possible, it has very little overhead as a point of interest I originally made it basically as a way of learning JNI, however I've ended up coming back to it time and time again, every time I have an experiment or GLES2 idea I want to test out. I need to double check that, it might be getting includes from where it shouldn't (really) the ant file is inherited from the desktop version (or at least platforms with xorg ready egl) when I get chance I'll look at what includes are in /opt/vc - really shouldn't be using the mesa includes if there...

Re: jumper lead pins power out only?

Thanks for answering a different question to the one I asked....

to reiterate I am talking about the jumper pins on the display interface I am NOT talking about the GPIO pins on the RPI itself

is it okay to power the display interface board from the jumper pins rather that the micro usb port

jumper lead pins power out only?

Couldnt find a circuit diagram for the interface board, so its not clear what the jumper pins are, are they the output of some regultion circuit, or just the ground and 5v rails ?

Is it okay to power the board from these pins? I'm not a great fan of delcate fiddly micro usb sockets !

is it possible to power the interface board separately to the pi ? while the fuse on the PI may limit whats drawn from the pi, the powers connected to the interface, so the .4+A isn't going through the poly fuse? What's the maximum draw of the LCD + interface board ? by the time you have pi2 @1ghz, keyboard, mouse, etc all plugged it I'm thinking to allow any kind of wiggle room probably a 4A power supply would be likely needed (as estimate only) I'm certainly seeing warnings with a 2A supply While I could u...
