Re: Moving Linux kernel to 4.19

yes, rtl8192cu work with both 4.14 & 4.18.
but didn't like it, cause led indicator not blink, want 8192cu back.

Re: Moving Linux kernel to 4.19

since raspbian blacklist rtl8192cu module by default, so use 8192cu and all good.
with 4.18, 8192cu loaded but don't connect anymore.

Re: Ubuntu Mate 18.04???

fresh install bionic sounds good, but /opt is empty.
search ubuntu wiki, they miss libraspberrypi-dev?
and 'http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-raspi2/ppa/ubuntu bionic/main' is too old.
does libraspberrypi-dev replaced by others?

If it boots on other devices, that's great but it's also entirely on your own responsibility. Like already said, there's obvious drawb...

Need to re-compile your kernel after patching:
drivers/gpu/drm/vc4/vc4_v3d.c
can we just re-compile a module, vc4.ko?

Re: [updated] kernel update issue

Your question confuses me. Exactly what is your problem? I run archlinuxarm on both my pi's, and we use pacman for updating. What happened exactly? What command(s) did you enter. I am rusty on the details as have not updated my system in a while, but you need to refresh your local package database ...

"if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Firmware updates may possibly effect dependencies with other software packages so best not to do them unless specifically told to do so by RPIF or others.
yes, sir.
but we are in arch not debian^^
btw, they updated.
