Re: Rotary Encoder Bargraph

Well, im looking at your code and im just seeing how i can convert it so it works with my code on your code you have many variables that i do not know the value of so its a bit harder trying to convert it. l = int(level/10) Whats the value of " l " and level? what's self.lcd.queue and self.lcd.queue...

Re: Rotary Encoder Bargraph

Well, at the moment im not really using the Bar-Graph for anything, its just so i know how to make on in the future if i need it for a project, anyway i would like it to have it like yours, somewhat in the middle, the display im using will either be a 40x2 or 24x2.

Re: Rotary Encoder Bargraph

Finnaly Making Some Progress, ive got my rotary encoder to fill 1 bar on the display, but when i go above 8(i have the counter outputting too) the bar disappears then starts over again on the same bar, i would like it to change position when the bar is full.

Re: Rotary Encoder Bargraph

That's because, when displaying a message, you have to send each character individually. This means the code needs to loop over each character to send it. You can iterate over characters in a string but not integers.
Just tying to figure out how to do the bar graph now.

Re: Rotary Encoder Bargraph

Ive solved the problem, the error showed up at this part of the code. lcd.message(count) for some reason it would not write integers to the LCD without first converting it to a string I simply changed it to lcd.message(str(count)) which worked fine. Anyway, hello Again, like i said in the previous r...

Re: Rotary Encoder Bargraph

Hello again! Damn Sorry I've been busy with work and haven't had chance to view the replies on the forums, I've found a quick tut online on how to find the rotation of the rotary encoder and I've coded a simple counter using it, but having trouble using it like you did on the other posts as a volum...

Re: Creating Custom LCD Char

On the first bit, look at the code on this Adafruit page . The "readadc" function has this definition line: def readadc(adcnum, clockpin, mosipin, misopin, cspin): The first parameter (adcnum) is the number of the analog device you want to read. So, if your potentiometer is connected to Analog 0 th...

Re: Creating Custom LCD Char

Yes, 8 analog inputs (numbered 0-7) you then use your code to query the chip and you send the input number as a parameter - i.e. you don't need additional wiring between the chip and the pi if you add more analog devices. Okay, i partially understand, what about these Rotary encoders? i have 5 Rota...

Re: Creating Custom LCD Char

Sorry, no experience with those. There do, however, seem to be a view threads on the forum about people using them so have a search and see if any of them can help. Okay the MCP3008 has arrived, looking at the data sheets it has 8 inputs but only 1 output??? Looking at its datasheet i dont see a Di...
