Re: GCC 9.1 released

You have to change to the folder gcc-9.1.0 and execute the following command:

./contrib/download_prerequisites

That downloads the required files.

Re: GCC 9.1 released

I've been using the following code for a few years now without any problems. The salient option for speed is the "--disable-bootstrap". Instead of 3 passes it only passes once. Thanks. Sounds all that's needed anyway if the current installed compiler is a recent GCC (say you are upgrading from 8.3 ...

Re: GCC 9.1 released

which are the pros and cons about D vs. C++ for hobby users? I'm not an expert, but at first glance, to me, it seems cleaner and more modern than C++, yet still very powerful. Why don't you just try writing a sample program in both? The D compiler is called "gdc" (Gnu D Compiler) by the way. "man g...

Re: GCC 9.1 released

I have different compile time options, and my Pi 3B+ took just over an hour to generate GCC 9.1. Works perfectly for now ;) Can you share how you built it that quickly? I've been using the following code for a few years now without any problems. The salient option for speed is the "--disable-bootst...

Re: GCC 9.1 released

My build completed. I enabled only c, c++ and it took about 6 hours 15 min on a fan-cooled 3B+. It also uses an SSD, not a microSD card. From time to time I checked the temperature and it never got over 48-49c. I have different compile time options, and my Pi 3B+ took just over an hour to generate ...

Re: Use BFQ?

I have kernel 4.12 working just fine compiled from source. However if I try to enable BFQ support, RPi fails to boot. In fact it does not seem to be able to grok the sdcard at all. In the cmdline.txt I simply changed elevator=deadline to elevator=bfq and compiled the kernel with the BFQ options. Th...

Re: Installing Program requiring Python 2.7 when default is 3.x

You can use the update-alternatives to give priority to installed programs e.g. Python & Python3. sudo update-alternatives --remove-all pip sudo update-alternatives --remove-all pip3 sudo update-alternatives --remove-all python sudo update-alternatives --remove-all python2 sudo update-alternatives -...
