UPDATE: I found the culprit in /System/Library/Caches, a file called com.apple.coresymbolicationd was 252 GB. So I deleted it.

Thanks all. I was working under the assumption that the swapped ground would give no output at all, so this is good info. I'll order the correct cable tomorrow (I'm in a part of the world where it's a little difficult to just go buy one), and I'll post an update!
