:((((
So bad, man. I recommend you installing xfce4 desktop.
LXDE-pi (aka PIXEL) is very very buggie.

Thanks for all.
I have installed xfce4 and replaces lxde.
In a near future I will do a clean install, I have listed all systemctl services and Deb packages installed for that porpoise.

LXPanel not displayed anymore

Hi, I updated some time ago to last Raspbian version and now LXPanel is not being displayed in PIXEL desktop. I tried to purge and reinstalling package (lxpanel and lxde) but it doesn't work locally or with vnc. I restored config file for LXPanel-PI: .config/lxpanel/LXDE-pi/panels/left # lxpanel <pr...

Pi Zero W AP mode using 802.11n mode in hostapd

Hi, I'm trying to use a Raspberry Pi Zero W as an AP using hostapd. I can use an external wifi adapter in 802.11n mode but I cannot find the right config to start hostapd service in the internal wifi module. Using the external adapter and compiling hostapd, the line "ht_capab=[SHORT-GI-40][HT40...

[Solved] Ralink RTL8191SU error in Buster

Hi, I have installed a clean image of Raspbian Buster in a Raspberry Pi 3 to use as a repeater. Internal wifi adapter (wlan0) and a external wifi RTL8191SU adapter (wlan1) work perfectly. I want to disable internal wifi adapter to connect to the router with a RTL8191SU usb adapter. It is detected bu...

Re: Cannot load Kodi in Buster

The some extreme hacking with /opt/vc/lib EGL & GLESv2 libraries (which aren't in Buster) to get over the segfaults in Kodi.
Could you please share what you did. Thanks!

Cannot load Kodi in Buster

Hi! I upgraded Raspbian to Buster but now I cannot launch kodi In the past, I followed this guide to run raspbian with console only (not lightdm) and I had a rule in rc.local to execute kodi as pi user (su pi -c kodi). Now I have a lot of errors executing kodi: Cannot connect to server socket err = ...

Where is apparmor by default?

One of the new features in Debian Buster was Apparmor. Since some years ago, we had it in repositories but now it is enabled by default. Since I had my first Raspberry I compile kernels by myself to include apparmor support (a lot of us use Raspberry as a small home server and SELinux, Apparmor or g...

Re: Update Raspbian and Raspberry

Even I didn't realize that I was on Jessie. I could upgrade from raspbian jessie to raspbian buster but I had a lot of errors (nothing I couldn't solve by runing the "apt dist-upgrade" command several times and solving errors with "dpkg -P package-with-error") I still have to fix...

Update Raspbian and Raspberry

Hi,

If I update Raspbian to last version 10 and I compile kernel, could I change my Raspberry Pi 3 to a Pi 4?
I'm about to receive it and I have a lot of software and configurations in Raspbian to clean install it.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Cannot boot from USB without SD card

Thnaks for your replies. I tested both things: cloning the device and that the kernels I compiled where both 4.19 and now I compiled again 4.14 Now boot with SD and USB works with the new kernel but not without a SD card (with my USB pendrive) What I did was: - Checked that last raspbian image inclu...

Re: Cannot boot from USB without SD card

So, for you, stop updating is the only solution? Then something isn't working correctly in Raspbian if things like this happen.

Re: Cannot boot from USB without SD card

Using /dev/sda to specify the boot drive is a bad idea. If you have more than one USB drive connected there is no guarantee the boot drive will be assigned the sda device. Using PARTUUID is the recommended (and more foolproof) way. You can find PARTUUID with this command. ls -l /dev/disk/by-partuui...

Apparmor on Rasbian Jessie

Hi, I have still a raspberry with Raspbian Jessie and an old kernel compiled with apparmor support. My question is, if I upgrade to the official linux kernel adapted for raspbian (using rpi-update command), will it now be compatible with apparmor? In the past the only way to have apparmor was adding...

Disable dhcpcd service and setting wlan0 static

Hi! My OS is raspbian 9 stretch. I don't want to use the systemd dhcpcd.service because I need to stop it to listen at a port (68) from everywhere (0.0.0.0). I need to configure a static ip for wlan0 and eth0 but wlan0 use wpa-supplicant. Is there anyway to fix it? I was able to do that using eth0 b...

Re: Booting from USB error

Setting a partitition as bootable (MBR) is a BIOS thing, the RPi doesn't have a BIOS, so it's 100% irrelevant. You MUST layout the partitions as documented here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/bootmodes/msd.md the GPU ROM can only boot from the first primary FAT16/FA...

Booting from USB error

Hi, After following the "boot RPi3 from USB" I cannot boot from USB if /boot partition is not /dev/sda1 . In my case I had 2 primary partitions: Partition 1 (ext4) / /dev/sda1 Partition 2 (luks) /home /dev/sda2 I splitted partition 1 in two primary partitions: /boot and / . So now I have: ...
