USB Not Authorized

Ok I've just installed Rasbian on a brand new Pi 3 using noobz and when I go to plug in my USB thumb drive I get "Not authorized to perform operation". I am logged in as pi. I cannot find any posts out there that address this specific issue with rasbian. Any help would be appreciated.
