Re: 160 Watt 4 ohm speaker with pi zero

If audio quality isn't a major concern, you can just connect an amplifier directly to the A/V output (the little 3.5mm headphone type jack). The Pi zero has no 3.5mm headphone jack... But luckily you can add your own. https://learn.adafruit.com/introducing-the-raspberry-pi-zero/audio-outputs Here's...

Should work. You'll need to find/buy a 12V 2A+ PSU as well to power the controller + LCD.
Yes, no problem with that. Thank you! Going to order it now!
Well. Couldn't order it. I live in México and they don't ship here. =(

Re: Smart mirror from scratch

So far I take of the display from the laptop. The display model is: LP154WX4. In all videos mention that you need a control board, but they don't say the model or where to buy them. Any recommendation for one? They don't say because it depends on the LCD panel you have. Go to eBay and search for "H...

Re: 160 Watt 4 ohm speaker with pi zero

I've been happy with this 20W Stereo Class-D unit from Ada Fruit: https://www.adafruit.com/product/1752 I don't use any of the fancy controls as my GPIO was busy enough, but it plugged into the audio output and happily played music, sounds and also talked under program control. 4 ohm 12V in the spe...

Re: 160 Watt 4 ohm speaker with pi zero

Hi! So the pHAT would work with such a big speaker? I have seen some videos of it with just small speakers and I am worried about killing my pi or something. the pHAT DAC can't drive speakers directly. you still need to connect it to an audio amplifier unit which will then drive your speakers. how ...

If audio quality isn't a major concern, you can just connect an amplifier directly to the A/V output (the little 3.5mm headphone type jack). If your goal is quality sound, a DAC of some sort is probably a good idea as the audio output on the Pi is not stellar. The amplifier doesn't need to be anyth...

Is your speaker 160W peak or RMS power? Which one it is will make a massive difference in the size of your amp.
I am not sure. It says "160 watts max" on the back. So I suppose that is the peak. You can use a less wattage Amp without problem?

Thank you!

Re: 160 Watt 4 ohm speaker with pi zero

for RPiZero, you'll need to set it up to look (and function) similar to either of these: RPiZW HiFi sources.jpg then you can connect it to an amplifier unit capable of driving your speaker the one on the left is my "Party Animal Pi" Hi! So the pHAT would work with such a big speaker? I have seen so...

Re: 160 Watt 4 ohm speaker with pi zero

Thank you! Do you have any recommendation of which amplifier? I know I needed one but the thing is that all that seems for the rpi are just for 1-3 watts. I am not sure how to use others, same with the DAC. I don't really need to be that loudly but since I have the speaker already I would like to us...

160 Watt 4 ohm speaker with pi zero

Hi! I have an old speaker of 160 watt and 4 ohms. I've been watching videos and boards conected to speakers that are just 1-3 watts and was wondering if it is possible to use the 160 watt with a pi zero in order to give use to this big piece of chunk that is just using a lot of space. If anyone has ...

You couldn't use Raspian either (afaik) until you had an updated firmware/kernel. So it could be that the image you are using dont have the updated firmware. More Info here: http://openelec.tv/forum/124-raspberry-pi/79023-raspberry-pi-zero?start=15#153868 the thing is i dont want to install the new...
