Re: Pi Zero W and OSMC

Thanks Eamonn

We'll make an announcement on our blog when the update is ready. If you've other OSMC devices, you'll see a prompt when the update is available as well, which will also mean it's ready for your Pi Zero W.

Cheers

You don't mention what the error is.

The easiest way to install OSMC is to go to osmc.tv/download.

Re: Pi Zero W and OSMC

I had planned for this Sunday, but had an awful cold and a family birthday come up.
WiFi + BT will land on Pi Zero W for Sunday 12th March.

OSMC + Retrosmc will probably do what you want.

There are also experimental Kodi builds with retrogaming support added: https://discourse.osmc.tv/t/testing-kod ... pi/20631/1

Re: Interrupt in python when bash script produces stdout

We offer /dev/gpiomem for non-root access to GPIO. But it's possible the scripts you are using don't use /dev/gpiomem. If you can't edit this trivially, you can add a udev rule to make /dev/mem accessible by the OSMC user. We haven't included this in OSMC by default as it's a security risk. I think ...

Re: Interrupt in python when bash script produces stdout

OSMC allows root access.

You can either escalate privileges with 'sudo' command, or you can enable a root account.

Cool stuff! You should post this (with the images) on our forums. It may help some people as there are now WD products which utilise the CM.

Let's continue this over at the OSMC forum.

I don't check the Raspberry Pi forum as regularly.

I am compiling a new installer with a patch that should handle your drive correctly. I'll let you know on the OSMC forum when it's ready.

OSMC always reformats.

So OSMC will need to know to format your device as GPT.

Yes the disk is new, I opened it. Zero working hours, start/stop count 0. Performance and health 100% both. OK We create a msdos partition table which has a 2TB limit. I can produce a Pi2/Pi3 build which uses GPT if you're willing to test it. msdos was used for legacy / compatibility reasons. Cheer...

Re: OSMC USB install - WD Red 3TB problem

Assuming you are trying to install OSMC on the drive itself (i.e. use the drive as /). I don't recommend it for a disk of this size; as if you need to reinstall OSMC, it will be more difficult if there is a large amount of data on the disk too. But it should work. After the installer fails, you shou...

The article on setting up a Pi Powered PVR with OSMC is great. Just a heads up that we recommend sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -y, sudo apt-get upgrade can cause problems (as new dependencies are not captured). You can also update via My OSMC > Updater. I'll make sure that the fir...

Re: Will this remote work with osmc?

Some users have tried it. Some of the buttons work, but the others don't. You can probably get this working by building a custom LIRC or eventlircd config.

If you want an out of the box solution, consider the official OSMC remote.

Thanks for recommending the correct way to update OSMC. I see a lot of apt-get upgrade suggestions on the forum, which causes issues. The correct way to update Debian distros is with dist-upgrade.
