Give it a try! I've run the minecraft bukkit server (craftbukkit) on my model b with 2-3 players and it's been ok. Seems to be just a matter of gradually testing to see how many users you can push before you run into slowdowns. There are also a number of features in the config file for the server (v...
Have you had any luck getting the XWayland components to run an X-Windows program? I have Weyland/Weston running, both from the demo package as well as one built from the instructions you referenced - in both cases I get 'cannot initialize compostor' when trying to launch from X. Hope you've had mor...
If you do a google search for bakeqtpi.bash git osx, you should find references for this script which should point you in the right direction. There has been some tailoring done recently to get it working on osx, and reports indicate that it's working for some people
I've seen that error a couple of times. You can safely remove that flag from the configure statement. There is another similar one it will complain about as well, but you can remove that without impacting the results.
Also meant to add that you should check out the QTonPi mailing list as well http://lists.qt-project.org/mailman/listinfo/qtonpi . Great place to ask questions since everyone there is just starting to face the same issues of getting Qt5 running on the Pi, but there is a lot of general Qt experience a...
Hi Take a look at the instructions here http://qt-project.org/wiki/RaspberryPi_Beginners_guide . These instructions will walk you through setting up a cross compiler environment, compiling Qt5 base and other modules, then installing it yourself. The bakeqtpi.bash file is very helpful! Once you have ...
I've had a lot of success cross compiling the Qt5 packages including web kit using the instructions at http://qt-project.org/wiki/RaspberryPi_Beginners_guide . At the top of the pages is a script bakeqtpi.bash which will essentially do everything you need including installing a working cross compile...
Hi Taylor If you do a search for 'control' and 'servo' you'll find a number of post regarding using the Raspberry to drive servos - one post talks about controllong a large number of servos (48) or more (IIRC). It's certainly doable, just have to see if any existing solutions match what you're tryin...
Check out http://qt-project.org/wiki/RaspberryPi_Beginners_guide . This is the guide I've been following recently. If you look at the bakeqtpi.sh at the top of the page you'll see it does most of the work for you. Works very well on my setup. includes setting up cross compiler as well as building QT...
Why elastic? Does it allow programming bounced checking accounts? :D It's a 'stretch' remembering back over the thirty years since I last wrote anything in COBOL :-) I've played a bit with Elastic recently, and so far it seems pretty good on the Pi, once the java interpreter finally decides to star...
I have an expression of interest in with Allied as well, dated from probably March 3/4 (deleted the original confirmation note). The last eMail I had from them was on May 5th, but didn't contain any relevant information. I'm assuming that we'll have to wait while they work on the pre-order backlog b...
Hi Mike Is the June 21 email from Allied correct in stating that they will be receiving their first Pi's "in the coming weeks". If so, can you advise when RS may be providing Allied with those Pi's? Hi - Allied are recieving a batch of Raspberry Pi's this week to cover all pre-orders placed. The em...
Not really central to the point, but remember that on your actual Pi you won't have 256 Meg's available either, you'll have 128 Megs or some fraction of the total, depending on the amount allocated to the GPU. If you are testing your compile results using Qemu, make sure to test using a reasonable m...
The Debian image is the one available from the RPi Foundations download page - you can also use the Arch image available there as well. Download it to your windows system (I.e. to a file Debian.img) then make sure that when you have everything else set up the way the instructions tell you to, that y...
I have to admit that I am curious as to why they haven't been receiving their share of Pi shipments all along. I thought that dealing with one part of the company was supposed to be the same as dealing with any other. I'm wondering if their seeming lack of concern is related to the low margins they ...
Rather than rehash this, I'd suggest you search for the topic 'Emulating Raspberry Pi in Windows the easy way' This includes downloads, instructions and comments and questions from users at a variety of levels. Following the info there you shouldn't have any trouble getting it to work.
QEMU is your best choice - there are a number of threads on the topic which will walk you through the install and configuration process. When set up properly, QEMU will boot directly from an .img file on disk (the ones from the download page work fine), but will not boot from a USB directly (althoug...
There is still way more complaining than developing over on the QTonPi mailing list, so I'd assume that the majority of them have not received they're boards.
hmm - Allied is apparently still waiting to RECEIVE it's first shipment of Pi's, and hasn't distributed any yet (this is based on the recent update from RS and Allied Electronics which you'll find in the forums) Looks like I've still got a long wait - at least in the summer the are plenty of other t...
