Re: xbmc-pvr

That's what I meant. XBMC needs to be patched to properly enable PVR features.

Re: raspbmc xbmc-pvr patches

Hi, I've been trying to merge pvr and rbp branch of xbmc for a while but I dont't have a Pi to test it yet. Possibly my work is already working :)
https://github.com/ntadej/xbmc

Is there a way you separate changes that are only PVR and Pi related?

Re: xbmc-pvr

As far as I know, integrated omxplayer core lacks some of the functions required for PVR, so it doesn't use it.

Re: xbmc-pvr

Current Raspberry Pi XBMC port doesn't have support for PVR - no hardware acceleration. This means that PVR is not usable on Raspberry Pi, because CPU alone is not powerful enough.

Re: xbmc-pvr

There is no XBMC-PVR currently available for Raspberry Pi. OpenELEC PVR builds just have additional drivers available, PVR is not included in the XBMC. I'm currently in process of porting PVR branch to Raspberry Pi, but I'm unfortunately still waiting for my device to arrive, so I can't test it. I h...

Unfortunately there is a delay with my Raspberry Pi shipment. I will not provide any builds until I test and complete the port.

Re: Bulding XBMC for Raspberry Pi

I suggest you search the forum in other threads. This is for building XBMC from source.

I've managed to build XBMC with PVR against raspbian and will post instructions next week, when I have the chance to test it (Pi finally arriving!!).

Re: Bulding XBMC for Raspberry Pi

Nice to hear that XBMC runs. So are PVR functions working? I haven't really changed a lot just enabled it to build. Some features may not work properly (or it may fall back to non-hardware playback).

Yes, it would be nice to have Raspbian compatible toolchain.

Now I'm trying to create a scratchbox based environment for raspbian as method described in this thread didn't work. I'm expected to finally receive my Pi this week so I hope I'll have working environment ready :)

Re: Bulding XBMC for Raspberry Pi

I use default options from Pi tools/rbp/depends/xbmc/Makefile.

I crosscompile from Ubuntu with raspbian chroot as buildroot/sdkstage (I now moved to raspbian and hardfp). I'll post required makefile and other changes for raspbian soon (when I finish building).

Re: Bulding XBMC for Raspberry Pi

Are you compiling directly on Pi? I currently don't require any additional fixes (other than already in git) but I have updated to latest version today and not yet finished crosscompiling. I'll push any fix that I also require.

How to enable SSH: http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=OpenELEC_FAQ#I_run_nightly_and_ssh_doesn.27t_work_anymore._Why.3F In FileZilla select SFTP instead of FTP when setting up the server. Re: Bulding XBMC for Raspberry Pi

Just one more note on compilation:
Linking final xbmc.bin can fail randomly. Just run make again and maybe 'make clean' the module that is causing problems. Then it should build successfully.

Re: Bulding XBMC for Raspberry Pi

I'm making a cleaner merge of PVR and Pi branches of XBMC. This will break current git branch. Please download the source again. Sorry for any inconvenience. This will (hopefully) be one-time break.

BTW, has anyone tested PVR?

You can enable ssh access in OpenELEC and then use SFTP option in FileZilla to copy files to the RPi at your grandparents.

Re: Bulding XBMC for Raspberry Pi

I've managed to build PVR branch of XBMC with Raspberry Pi patches. Note that probably PVR support is not there yet. Current state may be unstable or even not work, so I currently don't provide binary builds (I will as soon as I receive my Pi). How to build? Follow the instructions in this thread. I...

During the next few days, I'll try to update my PVR branch and recompile it using the procedure described in this thread. I can provide you then with working configuration arguments. I'm still waiting for my Pi (hopefully I'll get it very soon!) so I cannot test PVR if it's working at all. It may ne...

Hi, use the same as for normal XBMC. Note that my sources are quite old. I'll update and probably also provide binaries when I receive my Pi.

Re: Bulding XBMC for Raspberry Pi

I also think that OpenELEC would be better for basic XBMC usage. Most of people don't need full Linux desktop installed or even running in background.

I'll try to build XBMC and OpenELEC as soon as possible with PVR support (after 1. 5. as I go on holiday).
