Raspiraw 10 s with Camera V2

I would like to use a V2 Camera with raspiraw. This shall include consecutive shots of 10 s each with a specific ISO (e.g. 400). Despite experience with the V1 camera I could not manage to have success. Would be nice if someone could tell me the right configuration: 10 s exposure, consecutive frames...

Do something in short time intervals

I need a python script that does something every few hundred ms (e.g. 0.2 seconds). It does not really matter if it is sometimes a bit more or less (0.19 or 0.21 s), it must not miss steps. -> 1 hour = 3600 s -> 18000 steps 17995 steps would be bad. I guess this would not work as needed as "do ...

Re: Longer exposure time with camera V1

As to what is going on in your image I couldn't say. AFAIK the CSI2 receiver doesn't care too much over the link frequency, but I guess there is a lower end value to it that it can lock to. You may be just at the edge of this tolerance. This is the reason I gave up previously trying to extend the e...

4 shifted hardware PWM signals

I would like to drive a stepper motor using the 4 hardware PWM pins. Is it possible to shift them to have this behavior: PinA 110000011100000111000001 PinB 011100000111000001110000 PinC 000111000001110000011100 PinD 000001110000011100000111 By doing this i would run the motor without bothering the c...

Re: Longer exposure time with camera V1

A larger Scope is of course better, but in the end you have to do long exposures for deep space objects nevertheless.

Re: Longer exposure time with camera V1

I would be really thankful for help. Most of the people here rapid videos or photos of small things. I try to do something different: Long exposures of big things (stars/planets). This can even evolve to something what can relatively easy been done in class to teach kids more about space. Maybe some...

Re: Longer exposure time with camera V1

I looked around a bit in the code of raspiraw and the forums.
MMAL_PARAMETER_CAMERA_RX_TIMING looks promising.

Could the arrays in this line and the following line be modified to fix my problem?
What do the different elments of the arrays do?

I tried to take more photos in a row. No improvement.

Is there anything I can do to optimize the timings of the firmware?

Re: Longer exposure time with camera V1

Attached you can find an exemplary image. Messing with pll settings is not something that can sensibly be merged into the firmware. Is the responsible part of the firmware closed? PLL changes typically take a short period of time to adapt, so swapping settings between modes is likely to mean bad beh...

Longer exposure time with camera V1

I tried to extend the maximum exposure time on camera V1. I have good and bad news. The good news: Lowering the register value 0x3036 (SC_CMMN_PLL_MULTIPLIER) extends the exposure time. Increasing the upper nibble of 0x3035 (SC_CMMN_PLL_CTRL1) extend the exposure time by dividing all clocks. Increas...

Re: WPA_supplicant with Pi1B and Buster

Nothing changed - it works the same as Stretch Lite. You can put your wpa_supplicant.conf file in /boot along with /boot/ssh or /boot/ssh.txt and WiFi will automagically come up active on first boot. As soon as 5GHz was supported on the RPi3B the supplicant file changed to need COUNTRY=GB (with you...

Re: WPA_supplicant with Pi1B and Buster

I downloaded raspbian lite stetch, flashed it and connected via wifi without problems.
After step 4 of the upgrade process to buster the Pi does not connect to wifi  . I never used Ethernet in the process.

@Devs: Did you change anything related to wifi for Buster? What did you change?

Re: WPA_supplicant with Pi1B and Buster

Wifi seems severly broken on Buster.: I put a fresh Raspbian Lite (+ ssh in boot) on a micro SD for my Pi Zero 1.3. Via a Hub I connected an Ethernet adapter and a Wifi dongle. I could ssh into the pi via Ethernet but in raspi-config the Wifi settings tell me: Could not communicate with wpa_supplica...

Re: raspiraw does not connect to camera

After installing wiringpi and modifying modules.conf raspiraw worked. Unfortunatelly the annoying LED is now switched on although I killed it via config.txt (see first post). Any idea how to fix this? I want to force the camera (V1) to a specific shutter speed (e.g. 1/10 s). I guess I have to use ht...

Re: Camera V1 with ISO 6400

I can confirm now that analog_gain = 1023/16 (nearly 64) works. High ISO is also possible at a shutter speed of 6 s. Attached a photo (quality reduced by gimp 2 due to size limitations) of the Big Dipper at 6 s shutter and analog_gain = 32. Conditions were less then ideal and lead to a lot (too much...

Camera V1 with ISO 6400

I would like to take photos of the night sky. I googled a lot and found everywhere that the maximum ISO for camera V1 is 800 (1600 under special circumstances). The picamera docu states: Exposure mode 'off' is special: this disables the camera’s automatic gain control, fixing the values of digital_g...

Prepare Images for dcraw

I would like to play around with RAW images from the Pi Camera V1 on my Windows PC. What do I have to do with the JPG+RAW files to open them in vanilla dcraw?

I tried to delete everything in front of "BRCM", but that did not work.

My MicoSD is a Samsung 8 GB Class 6 bought in Aldi 10 (?) years ago. It worked fine a few years ago in the same Pi and in other electronics.

Flashing with Etcher failed. Now i can not even format it. Seems it was dying during all my experiments and thus changed behavior over time.

Does anyone know how to "sudo ./MyScripts/llctl/llctl f0 l0 d0" at startup?
Add this to /etc/rc.local (just before the exit 0 line).

Code: Select all

/home/pi/MyScripts/llctl/llctl f0 l0 d0
Thats what I did (see first post), isn't it?
