Is there a python library for live video input?

I want to make a program in Python that can take video input from a webcam and display it. And I also want the program to be able to identify colors. So the program can identify where all the reds are. is this possible to be made in python? What library or libraries could I use for this? If not poss...

So so far I have managed to short out my raspberry pi a total of 3 times so far while playing with the GPIO pins... Luckily it restarted with no poblems.

Whoa just playing with the GPIO's when i just caused the raspi to restart... Thank god no perminant harm done.

Where is the config.txt I cant seem to find it. Ive been too accustomed to ubuntu and its easiness. plus my monitor is crooked... why? sorry had too vent.

How are the pins numbered. In the Code on the wiki the GPIO pins are numbered, GPIO 1, GPIO 0, ect. What is the ordering of these pins? which is 0, and 1?

I had also gotten mine ( CT, USA ). I had purchased mine through Newark.com. They had given me the UPS tracking number. I guess Newark was a better choice.

Edit : mine also didn"t require a signature .

Whats the point of Gpio pins? The only use I have seen for them is blinking LED lights. Is there a practical use for them?
