I tried and use many distributions. I am sure Rasp Puppy is the easiest to use by a newcomer. No hassle downloading, burning the files also easy. And it works without hassle from the beginning.
Mind I use it on a normal PC, no Raspberry right now.

With pre-loaded SD cards the question is then which operation system respectively which distribution to load. Debian, Fedora etc. For instance I like Rasp Puppy. The nice thing when you can do it by yourself, you use the distribution you prefer. As an educational device, loading the distribution to ...

I think a low cost display is more important as a camera.

A question, why do you use such big Linux distributions ?

I use often Puppy Linux which is small and very good
