Re: Can't make Gambas 3 work on Pi

Thanks for that (and the very prompt reply!). However, it is the pi imaging instructions that I find confusing!

Re: Can't make Gambas 3 work on Pi

Sorry. After many years on Windows (and at 80) I'm finding the download and imaging instructions very hard to understand. All instructions assume some pre-knowledge, whereas pi is completely new to me. I really need step by step help on this one. I have Windows machines as well as the pi. (I'm using...

Thunks for that comprehensions reply.

If you go back to my first post in this thread, you'll see that I did say exactly what the problem was.

I'll try your solution as soon as I've polished off some work that I'm doing.

Re: Can't make Gambas 3 work on Pi

Now revisiting this open problem. Google search shows numerous people all experiencing problems installing latest Gambas on pi. The main reason I bought pi was to commence switching my office over from Windowz and Vb6 to Linux and Gambas, but it looks like it that strategy has failed. Very disappoin...

Not sure what you mean by 'paste the results'. If I issue that first line, I do get exactly what you show underneath. BTW I am accessing this forum from another (Windows) machine. EDIT: I have manged to get other windows on the IDE by using F4, and I can put controls on a form but the minute I try t...

Can't make Gambas 3 work on Pi

Hello all I've installed Gambas 3 on my Pi and having problems. First the IDE doesn't not come up with all the windows as stated in Gambas documentation. Then if I by chance press a 'wrong' button,. I immediately get this 'This application has raised an unexpected error and must abort ^TextEditor.DR...

At first sight, Gambas looks good. Many similarities. I am not into stuff like APIs so cannot comment there

Re: Replacement for Visual Basic. Is this possible?

I have been using Vb6 for many years on Windows, but as part of my migration from dratted W10, I am looking for an alternative on PI. I would like to hear the latest users' impressions of Gambas and Xojo, which seemed to be the favourites, at least when this thread was started. What do Pi users thin...

Re: LibreOffice Navigation RESOLVED

You can dock the Navigator's window in LibreOffice and have it as a pane within the main window by dragging it to the left or right of the window. As for clicking and dragging the items within the Navigator, that does not work in LibreOffice. At least not yet. However, if you highlight a heading in...

Re: LibreOffice Navigation

Tested on LibreOffice on Windows: Either: View Menu, Navigator [F5] gives a floating pane or: View Menu, Sidebar [Ctrl-F5] to open a sidebar on the right edge, select compass icon, gives a docked pane. Sorry I don't have LibreOffice installed on my current Pi image, will test... EDIT: Same on RPiOS...

LibreOffice Navigation RESOLVED

Still moving away from Windows. In Microsoft Office there is a facility where the headings of a document can be displayed in the left pane, indented per heading level. This enables very quick navigation through the document as well as quick moving of the order of material (by blocks under the headin...

Re: Mouse single click

On my Pi4, this does not work: Start Menu > Preferences > Keyboard and Mouse . All that Keyboard and Mouse offers me is Motion, and Speed of double click. No other option there. The single click option is in File Manager menu: [Edit] --> [Preferences] --> [General] Thanks! Got it!

Somehow I've placed an icon on my desktop main screen that I do not want. Cannot seem to remove it... It's very hard to help when you don't provide any details. What happens when you right-click on the icon and select 'Move to Trash'? Have you selected 'Properties' to see who owns the file and what...

Re: Elongated screen

Try to change the resolution of the screen. Select an option with an appropriate aspect ratio (4:3, 16:9 or 5:4): sudo raspi-config 7 Advanced Options -> A5 Resolution Via Screen configuration Icon > Screens > Resolution, it is set at 1024 X 768. It that already 16:9? EDIT: Also tried your suggesti...

I can't seem to get my aspect ratio right. Circles like the web icon appear as ellipses and the screen is spaced out horizontally in eg LibreOffice. I am using a HDMI to VGA converter. I wonder if the conversion has something to do with it?

Email received flag?

In Outlook (Windows) There is a flag that lights up on the taskbar when an email is received. I'd like the same sort of thing for Claws on my pi.
