Re: Geany can't find gtk.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this problem. The Glade file was designed on Glade 3 on my RPI. I tried your code but it would still not run on my RPI. I have been trying to load Glade 2 onto my RPI but have not succeeded yet. This will be a problem for a lot of folks so what is the next th...

Re: Geany can't find gtk.

The GUI comprises of a Window , vertical container, menu bar and a label. You can exit from the window or the menu bar. As simple as possible so as not to complicate getting it to run, well I thought so ! <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!-- Generated with glade 3.18.3 --> <interface> <requir...

Re: Geany can't find gtk.

Hi PeterO, Well I am sure someone will put me right but I think Glade produces an XML file that when shown provides the GUI that you designed. The widgets you designed then call back to python to take action based on their state. I have tried manually loading "Python -gtk2" but again it says that it...

This is the code I used in "Geany" I hope some one can point out why the error message appears. Thanks MM #!/usr/bin/env python import gtk class Begginer: def on_window1_destroy(self, object, data=None): print "quit with cancel" gtk.main_quit() def on_gtk_quit_activate(self, menuitem, data=None): pr...

Re: Geany can't find gtk.

Thank you for your comments. I decide to start again with a new installation of Debian the latest Noobs on the SD card and once done did apt-get upgrade and apt-get update. Once done a new installation of Glade (3.18.3) was completed. During Glade download I saw it download libgtk-3-dev:armf so ther...

Re: Geany can't find gtk.

I've just tried importing gtk into ILDE for Python 2 and it came back with the same error message, that there was no module named gtk to be found. So I think the gtk module must be in the wrong place. Would I be correct in assuming that gtk should be in the Python directory ?

Re: Geany can't find gtk.

Hi b.goode,
Thank you for your prompt reply. My RPi has Python 2.7.3 & Python 3.2.3 with gcc 4.6.3. I did apt-get install libgtk2.0-dev and it came back "libgtk2.0 is already the newest version". So gtk is there but Python appears not to see it ? Dhoe ! Umm :?

Geany can't find gtk.

I am experimenting with Glade 3 to make a simple GUI. When I write a small program in Geany to run the Glade file it compiles ok but when it runs it stops at the line which try's to import gtk and says "no module named gtk". Do I need to do something else to tell Python where gtk is ?
Thanks MM

Re: Using Delphi for programming Rosberry pi

Well that was strange , when I looked last night the OTAPI blog was covered in multiple PuTTy screens and you couldn't read anything but tonight it's fine, only the one there should be ! Good news my Pi2 arrived this afternoon so it's play time.
Have fun, MM

Hi frogs,
Interesting link but it looks like it's been hacked there were PuTTy screens all over it when I looked at it. I will try again when my Pi2 arrives.

Re: Using Delphi for programming Rosberry pi

Hi ,
I had some experiance of Pascal/Delphi so tryed out Lazarus/FPC on the Pi and found it works well. I have a Pi 2 on order and with the extra speed and memory it should work very well. Good luck.

Re: Cant get SPE - 0.8.2a to run -SOLVED.

Well I downloaded SPE to my RPi this evening and watching the downloads saw it download wxPython , wxGTK and wxGlade. So that's probably the answer to my Windows problem, I didn't have the right Python,s on my laptop.

Re: Cant get SPE - 0.8.2a to run

Hi Broo0ose, Thanks, perhaps I should forget the laptop and just download to my RPi, but its more conveniant to play with the laptop at work. I am wondering if its the type of Python I have on my machine thats the problem. I have 2.7 and wxwidgets loaded. Perhaps one or both of these are the wrong t...

Cant get SPE - 0.8.2a to run

Hi, I am trying to look at SPE with a view to using it on the RPi, so I down loaded it onto my Windows 7 laptop. It seemed happy when it installed, finding Python 2.7 in the registry. When I told it to launch from the icon it flash,s up a box that disappears in milli seconds so it can t be read. Any...

Does Boa Constructor support the Canvas widget.

Hi , I am trying to use Boa Constructor ( with WxPython and Python 2.7) to build a GUI that in places will use repeaters for LED,s . I cant find a "Shape" widget to give me a nice round color controlable object. I have read that the Canvas widget can be used for such purposes but there does not seem...

Direct rpi to laptop connection to see rpi video o/p.

This may be a stupid question but is it possible to directly connect my RPi to my laptop via a cat 5 cable and USB cable to power the RPi and be able to have the full video output of the RPi on the laptop screen. I sure it would be possible to get the connection and power to the RPi but is there any...

Re: Waht's the differences between different diodes?

An ordinary or "regular" diode acts like a one way valve. A schottky diode is a very fast switching diode from one state to the other with no delays. A zenner diode acts like a regulator allowing only allowing current to flow after a certain voltage is reached , so you put in a diode of a certain vo...

I would like to measure vibration, but how ?

I would like to start a little project to measure vibration. I was thinking of using an accelerometer such as the MMA7455, seems cheap but quite powerful. I was also thinking of connectiong this to a Gertduino and then send sample to the RaspberryPi for analysis display. I can find plenty of posts a...
