Cases and static charge question.

This may be a stupid question, I'm not sure. Almost all of the raspberry pi cases are made our of plastic, and this made me think, if I wasn't it put the raspberry pi inside a case, and then put that in a fabric pouch, could the movement between the fabric and plastic generate a static charge which ...

Re: Pi Zero W media centre

I used to use a Pi1 (slower than a Zero) as a streaming media server using Kodi and a wifi dongle with attached USB HD. Worked fine serving up video to the children in the motorhome. Did you use the hardware decoding feature? Also was the video 60fps, as I have tried with my Pi 1 B and it is really...

Re: Pi Zero W media centre

No a pi 3b (not plus) can barely run YouTube. YouTube != Media centre All the Pi range can decode 1080p30 H264 as standard with no problem with the HW decoder, and can go up to 1080p60 on certain streams, where it will bump the clock to increase performance. Many many people use Pi's as media centr...

Pi Zero W media centre

Hello all, I just ordered a Pi Zero W, and I am trying to decide which of my many project ideas to do first. One of my ideas was to set up a portable media centre by setting up the Pi as a media centre and as an access point. Is the Pi Zero Powerful enough to be used as a media centre? The files I h...

Re: Micro SD card compatability

The ones listed there are not 128GB, and on the Amazon page for the ultra cards (the age that is linked on that site), the 128 gb ones are not listed at the bottom. Are they still compatible? Have you asked yourself the question if you really need a 128GB card? What are you going to fill it with (e...

Can't connect to raspberry pi portable media server.

I have been trying to set up my Pi 2 as a portable media centre so it can stream to VLC on my iPhone on the go. I have been following this tutorial: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36579 , however, I haven't had much luck. I followed the tutorial exactly and it didn't work. The pi...

Any recommendations for a good guide to setting up a portable media centre?

I have a raspberry pi 2 and I would like to set it up so that I can use it as a media centre to stream videos to VLC on my iPhone when I am on the go and don't have internet access. What is a good guide I could follow that would clearly walk me through the process of setting something like this up? ...

Re: Official touchscreen is upside down.

Are you using NOOBS? If you are then use the NOOBS recovery system (beat the [SHIFT] key to death during boot to activate it) to find the correct /boot/config.txt and edit it. I got it to work, however, the viewing angles are worse with the display like this, can you put the display in the other wa...

I have checked the file before and it is edited, or is it not actually edited? I will try this when I get home.

Add

Code: Select all

lcd_rotate=2
to /boot/config.txt and reboot.
I tried that, it didn’t work sadly, I don’t know what I should do next.

Official touchscreen is upside down.

My official touchscreen is displaying the image upside down, and I tried adding the lcd rotate thing but that didn’t work.

I have heard you have to disable GL drivers in raspi config but I can find the option, it’s not there.

Any ideas?

Remote control through walls

I would like to make a remote control car that can be controlled through multiple thick concrete walls, is this possible, and if so, what frequency transmitter would I need?
Also I would like it to transmit video back, is this possible through walls, and if so, how?

I thought you could get video transmitters that go several miles and can pass through buildings, trees and people?
It is maybe more like 200m, actually thinking about it.

Transmitting video through a building.

I would like to be able to transmit the video from the raspberry pi camera to another raspberry pi that is about 500m away and through several thick walls. Is this possible without using wifi or 3/4g? I would also like to be able to send input controls to the first raspberry pi from the second one. ...

There are specialised ICs for estimating remaining battery, for example https://www.maximintegrated.com/en/app-notes/index.mvp/id/131 Reading a battery level is always just an estimation though. Re: SD cards

Yes, and No. In that order. The performance of the RPi must be affected by the speed at which it can or write programs and data to/from the microSD card. But the difference in practice may not be significant to you. An SD card is about 30mm by 24mm. A microSD card is about 16mm by 7mm. They are not...

And is a 4mbps sd card and a 4mbps micro sd card the same thing?
