Re: Pi Power Controller Project (safe reboot anytime)

Thank you for the reply. I never thought of ups issuing a shutdown command, I just thought they acted as an emergency backup battery. I am not particularly interested in the back up aspect, but rather just in the I2C reboot/shutdown commands. Interestingly enough, this is also the part of UPS's that...

Pi Power Controller Project (safe reboot anytime)

Hello Pi community! Anyone who has had their OS freeze up on them knows the woes of cutting the power or grounding the run header. I recently started using a SSH to safely reboot the pi, even when frozen, and it got me thinking. Would it be possible to setup a peripheral circuit that uses the GPIO h...

Re: About Rpi2 usb power output (0.6Amp/1.2Amp switch)

Hello Pi Community! I am using a Pi 3 which is fused to 2.5A. However, I am planning on powering the unit via the GPIO 5V pins, which should power the whole 5V rail. I am using a regulated and protected 5.0V 5A supply. I want to be able to power at least two "high power" usb devices (>500mA), as wel...

Re: More than one preview window

Outstanding! So a video splitter by modifying the source code! Thank you for help! :) Any suggestion on how to do any of that or perhaps a good web page to get me started? It doesn't seem like it should too hard to pull off, but let me know if you think it's too difficult or out of our league. Thank...

More than one preview window

Hello Pi Community, I am attempting to stream the preview output of my Pi Camera to a display, but I need to have two copies of the preview windows running at the same time. Basically, I am trying to do a goggle type setup to where each eye has its own image. I tried to set a new instance of the cam...

Re: Special dual video project for Pi

I have access to 720p or 480p USB cameras, but if using the Pi cameras are more highly recommended, then I would be happy to make the switch. Is there a particular camera I should use or are the Pi cameras universal? I was looking at this module off of the Adafruit website: https://www.adafruit.com/...

Special dual video project for Pi

Hello Pi Community, I need to setup a dual camera system for a research project. The system must be able to take in video streams from two separate input devices (can be Pi camera module or USB camera), and display both videos' output on a portable display (LCD module or other). The output stream to...
