Simple Pi IO Expansion Rack System

This is a yet another Simple Expansion system for a Raspberrry pi. Having been experimenting with multiple circuits on breadboards, I have a problem that many may be facing in creating a robust method for modularly expanding the pi with soldered circuitry. Furthermore, multiple connect/disconnect of...

Re: Web based GPIO Control

Another update to piSatus and piGears. piStashIO is progressing, but has "changing scope" issues. My main work has been to 1) try and build up the documentation of piGears and the examples repository, 2) to optimise the IO to allow a reasonable performance at IO switching. 3) I am also starting the ...

Re: Web based GPIO Control

Folks I have updated piStatus and piGears. The main reason for this update is to address some performance issues. To switch LEDs in a 5X3 character matrix used to take 30 seconds to write " RASPBERRY PI " (i.e write to IO 180 times) using a piGears script (see my demo site...execute textLED.scr and ...

Re: Web based GPIO Control

Is it possible to build wireshark or tshark / tcpdump into the distro? Is SSHd included or can it be added as well? Well i have looked for successful compiles of wireshark on ARM, with little success. sshd is included...I just use the standard raspbian distro. piStatus is not a distro in its own ri...

'Create a folder (writeable) called scripts in the document root. Auto setup: version 0.2 of piStatus will try and create a folder called scripts in document root, and use it if it exists already. Re: Web based GPIO Control

Great if you can shed some more light on the issue... Hi Brown Mouse... I note that vcgencmd returns a lot of "VCHI initialization failed". This is because www-data does not have privileges to execute vcgencmd... I dealt with this by adding www-data to groups video and plugdev... sudo usermod -a -G...

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I do have a working system and I understand the issue over the processing capabilities of the Pi. Re: Web based GPIO Control

I have corrected the missing "/", but diagnostics still report 'unable to check...'. I am using Apache2 (so reconfigured the /sites-enabled/000-default entry for document root) and the distro is 'wheezy 2012-10-28'. Thanks Ok; may be my fault for not allowing situations when cgi-bin folder is not a...

Re: Web based GPIO Control

I have installed piStatus (& piGears) and all works well from my own webserver ('littlebrownmouse.co.uk/cgi-bin/piStatus.pl') but it is very slow. Saif's demo site is very swift by comparison. Any ideas why this might be? Speed of the the webserver may be related to 1) network bandwidth, 2) availab...

Version 0.12 of piStatus with 0.5 of piGears released. (last release was just a quick bug-fix to get it working on some systems). Reporting problems with other system setups help me make the programs more useful for other people. This update has two major components to piStatus 1) a bread crumb enha...

Re: Web based GPIO Control

The version I have is 338245. there is actually an even more updated version of this available. Linux distros store the update information in a store called a repositorty. It may be that the latest version of vcgencmd in the repository for your distro is 325444. You can get around this by getting th...

right had a little play - the button 'vcgencmd' gives me loads of 'command not registered' error messages - any idea what I'm doing wrong now? btw on the diagnostics it says that vcgencmd is intalled ok This is because you do have a version of vcgencmd installed, but the version may not have all th...

Re: Web based GPIO Control

I got it. Your webserver is reporting docroot without the last "/". Compare the results of your ENV and mine. I will submit a fix, but you can edit the file (both piStatus and piGears).. about line 44 for piStatus and 42 for piGears change from $docRoot = $ENV{'DOCUMENT_ROOT'}; to $docRoot = $ENV{'D...

piStatus.pl.zip I think you are running version 0.11. whilst I am running 0.9 the 0.11 is the version under development; the latest version is 0.10 (available to download at the usual place). I will attach this version if you want to try it...I am still working on it and will release this version i...

Galaxynik wrote: the log fikle is not there ..
The log file is probably there, you may not be able to see it.
Fortunately piStatus has some ability to use the shell as www-data.
Click on the shell tab. Enter you password...the command you want is
ls -a
this will show you all the hidden files as well.

You do need to have wiringPi installed for GPIO management...is that done? https://projects.drogon.net/raspberry-pi/wiringpi/download-and-install/ Question marks are also present when there has been no .gpioFile created. piStatus tries to automatically create a folder and this file for you. piGears, an interpreter for server side BASIC(ish) like programming of the GPIO pins, written in PERL is now up to version 0.3. As before it comes with piStatus. Although mainly concerned with GPIO control, some of these newer functions are conserved with the Console output. Changes in version 0.3 M...
