Re: Kivy install on Pixel distro

OK this talking to myself is getting a little solipsistic but if anybody runs into the same problem, I found the answer here: https://kivy.org/docs/api-kivy.input.providers.mtdev.html Make this modification to the ~.kivy/config.ini file: mouse = mouse mtdev_%(name)s = probesysfs,provider=mtdev,param...

Re: Kivy install on Pixel distro

I tried using the second option on the page: https://kivy.org/docs/installation/installation-rpi.html to build "in place": git clone https://github.com/kivy/kivy cd kivy make echo "export PYTHONPATH=$(pwd):\$PYTHONPATH" >> ~/.profile source ~/.profile I have the kivy examples folder now but think I ...

Kivy install on Pixel distro

I just installed kivy following the instructions here: https://kivy.org/docs/installation/installation-rpi.html I installed the dependencies and ran the "global" option: sudo pip install git+https://github.com/kivy/kivy.[email protected] I finally got everything installed and can open Idle and import kivy ...

Re: touchscreen inversion stopped working PIXEL

Just wanted to confirm that this is working for me, once I got the typos out, and that it is started automatically when I boot the Pi. To sum up the whole procedure to have R-Pi touchscreen startup in in portrait mode: 1. In /boot/config.txt type in and save: display_rotate=1 2. In /etc/xdg/lxsessio...

Re: touchscreen inversion stopped working PIXEL

Didn't seem to work for me. I tried it in a terminal and it just sits there with a > until I Ctrl-C out (and there is no change to the touch orientation). If I hit return it just puts a > on a new line. I then put it in the shell script that contained the old command (and commented out the old Evdev...

Re: touchscreen inversion stopped working PIXEL

Just to be clear: the display is visually rotated by putting display_rotate=1 into /boot/config.txt The xinput commands I (we) put in: /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart xinput --set-prop 'FT5406 memory based driver' 'Evdev Axis Inversion' 0 1 xinput --set-prop 'FT5406 memory based driver' 'Evdev ...

touchscreen inversion stopped working PIXEL

I updated my RPi-based kiosk project to use the latest Jessie/Pixel distro. I am using a rotated (vertical) RPi touchscreen and the rotation looks correct but the touch functionality is no longer inverted as it was before the upgrade. In other words the display is correctly rotated visually and the ...

Re: PI 2 spidev SPI buffer size

@Joan, Thanks so much for pointing me to your module, it is pretty sophisticated, maybe a bit dauntingly so from my perspective.;) It works with my expanded buffer size I am happy to report. Interestingly enough, I managed to get the py-spidev module working for me by simply calling its writebytes m...

Re: PI 2 spidev SPI buffer size

Thanks for the reply fivdi, I have been using a python module that wraps some C code. The file I tired to edit to make a bigger buffer is here: https://github.com/doceme/py-spidev/blob/master/spidev_module.c#L30 I changed the hilighted line to 32768 and the error changed from an Overflow Error (like...

Re: PI 2 spidev SPI buffer size

Thanks Joan, Yes that occurred to me. I was hoping that I could snoop around the spidev module and see if it is set in there. I couldn't find the module anywhere though. After a bit of research I typed in Idle: import spidev import inspect inspect.getfile(spidev) and it reports it as a .so: '/usr/li...

Re: PI 2 spidev SPI buffer size

I have a Pi3 and I am trying change the bufsiz used by spidev, I added spidev.bufsiz=32768 to /boot/cmdline.txt and rebooted but no change. Still getting error in my python script that 4096 is the maximum transfer size. I have latest Jessie installed (4.1.19-v7+) I also tried earlier suggestions to ...

Re: Use 7" touchscreen LCD in portrait mode

Just as an update, the 7" LCD touchscreen from Raspberry Pi does not show this problem of artifacting when rotated into portrait mode. In general the touchscreen response is much more responsive than the waveshare although it is still hard to select things near the edges on both screens. Finally the...

Use 7" touchscreen LCD in portrait mode

I am using a 7" touchscreen LCD from Waveshare that I need to install in a kiosk in portrait mode. After looking everywhere in the forums and elsewhere on the Internet I see that, while it is relatively easy to rotate the display (adding "rotate_display=3 to config.txt) it does not seem possible to ...
