hard to find definitive answers in this thread... :) Why do i need to use dnsmasq? For now, i use option 2. SD card that came with board (with raspbian, openelec installs in recovery) and boot code as i understand - code under boot partition? (FAT, about 64MB) and after initialization (first 5 seconds of logs on screen, detecting devices etc.) it jumps to sda2 and system is loaded...

but is it normal that there is no GREEN LED even for a moment? shouldn't it blink briefly at least, to indicate some tries to access USB ?

ah, sorry, forgot to mention, used Etchu (also i have win32diskimager),
i'm quite technical person (programmer), just without big knowledge about linux booting stuff :)

Hi, I'm trying to boot from USB (SSD on usb), i've set OTP bit (checked with vcgencmd ), copied raspbian onto ssd over usb (on win7, using Etchu). however when i turn on Raspi (with no SD card, only USB), red LED is on, but no GREEN (no even flashes at all), does it mean i missed something? or my bo...

I have Raspbian Jesse, installed RealVnc, enabled by systemctl, rebootet, server works.

how to connect from windows machine? i have a client, providing raspi IP, i see proper catchphrase, now, viewer asks me for username/password.... what should i enter?
whatever i enter, auth fails...

that's normal that antenna is not inside then :)

i don't want to buy another small dongle with a risk that signal is too weak.
