I found the problem I have had a Display-O-Tron 3000 attached and had a script start on boot. And I think that it gave me problems.

I have installed all the required packages as instructed, but I can not get the LEDs to light up.

When the Pi boots up the LED lights up in rainbow colour as the monitor does.
