Re: PCB Board Layout/Design Software

Thanks for all your advice and suggestions. I think I'm going to go for KICAD. Installed the latest nightly build and just worked my way through the Getting Started tutorial, which is pretty good and as jbeale noted the forum appears active. I found it really easy to generate new components that are...

PCB Board Layout/Design Software

Hi So, I've got my RPi2, got my breadboard circuit working, written my Java program using Pi4J. Now, I want to make a professional PCB. I've looked at both Eagle and DesignSpark, which both look a bit involved and a long learning curve. With DesignSpark I couldn't even find a 40 pin connector as yet...

Re: JOGL, Swing and BlueJ

Thanks for all your help but I think I'll give up on jogl2 on the RPi! I'm not an opengl, jogl, linux expert!! I'd like to use it out of the box and not start installing any different drivers. Also, being able to place or embed an opengl window on a canvas is a basic requirement for using Java Swing...

Re: JOGL, Swing and BlueJ

Thanks for taking the time to rejig the example. It runs, but I get red errors (glGetError 0x500) in the terminal window. Also it generates 2 cursors and does pretty weird things. A bit unusable really. Also, what I was really interested in is adding an OpenGL canvas to a JFrame window or JPanel. Is...

Java Version and Installing Eclipse Kura

I have a RPi Model 2 B out of the box with the Noob installation and when I type: java -version I get: pi@raspberrypi ~ $ java -version java version "1.6.0_35" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.13.7) (6b35-1.13.7-1~deb7u1+rpi1) OpenJDK Zero VM (build 23.25-b01, mixed mode) When I echo the Java...

JOGL, Swing and BlueJ

I'm trying to setup a basic example of a JFrame with JOGL using BlueJ (v3.1.5) as the IDE on a Model 2 B RPi. 1) Get an example from Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jogl and follow the example link to: https://gist.github.com/gouessej/3420e2b6f632efdddf98 2) Create a New Project in BlueJ called ...

Re: Java OpenGL ES 2 bindings using JogAmp JOGL 2

Thanks for spotting the typo. I'd previously installed junit4 as per your original instructions.

It's now working and the red+blue+green gears take over the screen!!

Thanks

Re: Netbeans and pi4j importing

One thing I tried was from the article: https://wiki.utdallas.edu/wiki/display/FAQ/X11+Forwarding+using+Xming+and+PuTTY and installed Xming. I then started the Xming server before doing anything else. I then started a Putty connection with my RPi's IP address and port 22 for ssh and in the Connectio...

Re: Netbeans and pi4j importing

Just thought I'd add that if I switch to my RPi and run the remotely built jar by NetBeans in the .../dist directory then it runs fine: pi@raspberrypi ~/NetBeansProjects/TriEV0/dist $ sudo /usr/lib/jvm/jdk-8-oracle-arm-vfp-hflt/jre/bin/java -jar TriEV0.jar So, the app is ok, and runs on the RPi ok, ...

Re: Netbeans and pi4j importing

I know I can develop a Swing app using Eclipse with WindowBuilderPro on my laptop, then move the files over to the RPi and build using BlueJ and the Swing app runs fine on the RPi. So, I'm confident this is possible.

Re: Netbeans and pi4j importing

Hi I don't know if you've tried this, but I generated a Swing app with a JFrame main window. Using the default host project configuration it runs fine. Next, I follow your instructions and set up a remote project configuration. Using the "Test Configuration" it passes successfully. However, when I r...

Thanks for your reply.

Wow...works a treat!

Now, that's a lot easier than using BlueJ on the RPi unit itself.

Thanks again for your help.

Re: Bluetooth and Java on RPi

I already tried that too and no luck. I'm coming to the conclusion that Bluetooth on the RPi is for Linux and Java gurus. I'm still not getting expected behaviour from the Blueman Manager and finding the BlueCove API a little out of date and with an effectively dead forum not much use. All of the 4 ...

Re: Netbeans and pi4j importing

The posted error was at your step 13, which I understand that at this step it is attempting to run on the host Windows machine but with Linux built jars specifically for the ARM processor. From what you say though not sure it would have worked on any host if your steps are followed from 1 onwards. U...
