Re: DS1307 RTC invalid time/date issues

Hi Ivan, The routing around the crystal looks ok to me... well it looks very close to another board I made that was within reasonable tolerance. It adheres more or less to the datasheet, proximity of the crystal, ground plane etc. I'll google around though now I have a bit more. I was reading post h...

Re: DS1307 RTC invalid time/date issues

Well after re-wiring the I2C directly across the board it's been running OK now for over 130 boot cycles... so I won't be hunting through the loft for PIC chips just yet ;) I will be a bit more careful with the autoroute next time! I fixed getting the time from the hwclock at boot using the instruct...

Re: DS1307 RTC invalid time/date issues

Thanks Ivan. Hopefully there's nothing too weird... However, I'm using my own PCB, so there could be a fault there. Following our last discussion I kept with the 1.8k pull ups and the atmega won't read the time unless the pi is on (although I assume this corruption happened as the pi shutdown anyway...

DS1307 RTC invalid time/date issues

Dear all, I've been having trouble with some scheduling software for recording time lapse images at night. I'm not actually collecting the data, but one camera was remembering the time it crashed out when the power was pulled - but behaving normally on a clean shutdown. The other camera turns off an...

Re: Status of the RPi I2C pull ups when the RPi is off

Thanks for the replies gents.. given that I'm stuck with the pi pull-ups, I'm going to stay with the clunky method until I get time to sit down and review the board*. I need to boot the rpi initially anyway to run self-checks, and the software clock is accurate enough for my purposes over a four day...

Re: Status of the RPi I2C pull ups when the RPi is off

Ah - I see. Thanks for that. Theoretically then I would need pull up resistors either side of that switch then? Assuming the 1.8k pull ups in the RPi would also be disconnected... I say theoretically, the atmel 328 and the clock are happily conversant without the RPi and there are no other pull ups ...

Status of the RPi I2C pull ups when the RPi is off

I have an ATMEL 328/arduino on an I2C bus with a DS1307 RTC and a RPi. The 328 is running at 3v. Both devices can read the time from the DS1307 when the RPi connected and on, but the ATMEL 328 hangs at DateTime now = RTC.now(); when the RPi is connected and off. When I disconnect the RPi, up comes t...

Re: raspbian stuck with US keyboard layout for GB keyboard

No - due to an unrelated issue I had to begin again on another SD card, and it is fine this time.I had a similar experience with search results... I got better results, ok one result, when I used 'debian' instead on 'raspberry pi'; http://forum.stmlabs.com/showthread.php?tid=2808 I haven't tried it,...

Re: issue with picamera and rpi.GPIO...

Update - i though it might be the picamera cleaning up resources at the end of the 'with' block so I tried using camera = picamera.PiCamera() instead, and my own camera.close() at the end... but it didn't make any difference.

issue with picamera and rpi.GPIO...

hello I've been happily controlling an LED via GPIO to capture images with the RPi camera using call(["raspistill -t 2000 -o " + filename], shell=True) I thought it would be more elegant, and perhaps more flexible, to use the picamera module - so i cobbled together this test; #!/usr/bin/env python i...

Re: raspbian stuck with US keyboard layout for GB keyboard

Thanks for your thoughts... yes, I tried raspi-config... i think this just calls dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration anyway doesn't it? In any case - as far as I am aware - ultimately any changes there should be reflected in /etc/default/keyboard shouldn't they? They are indeed transposed. I thi...

raspbian stuck with US keyboard layout for GB keyboard

I have been using my pi over shh mostly but today I had reason to log in directly and very quickly noticed keys like tilde and pipe were wrong! I've never had call to change my keyboard layout, /etc/default/keyboard reflects this; XKBMODEL="pc102" XKBLAYOUT="gb" Obviously I tried changing it anyway....

Re: DS1307 with Arduino and RPi

I'm using lithium batteries Brent... if I had access to mains power a lot of my problems would go away! Thanks for the update Jon. That sounds great. For now I'll try two regulators and one RTC method on the bread board- but rather than any sophisticated handshakes i'll just have the RPi shutdown ea...

DS1307 with Arduino and RPi

Hello, just after some ideas really while I mull something over.... Here's the background to my mullage; (scroll down for the fairly succinct question!) Re: EasyCap and MPlayer

Just for reference in case you haven't seen it elsewhere, the green screen isn't a USB problem, it's a portability issue with the em28xx driver and arm.

There have been a couple of patches to fix it, but if do you will be limited to 320x240 (because of the USB issues).

Re: EasyCap module compiling.

I found this useful http://elinux.org/RPi_Kernel_Compilation I think it's important to reiterate fbutler's point that this driver doesn't work on the raspberry pi... try an em28xx capture device or another arm board. In either case, be prepared for another battle. IMHO it isn't just the price, (it's...

Re: video capture using usb video capture device

I did - I've broken it now, as I've moved to the raspbian image... but hopefully this is temporary. The quality wasn't very exciting though. By "easycap" - i'm referring to the em28xx devices, not those with the syntek chip. What distro are you used for easycap? I'm using near by latest git sources...

Re: video capture using usb video capture device

It's probably me - but if I remember rightly I *think* I had problems with my kernel source when building the linux-media drivers... and subsequently none of the modules loaded. It was a while ago since I last tried, and at some point I gave up documenting the combinations and permutations of images...

That's interesting... I don't know if this is relevant to the drivers, but my symtek device arrived today and that is running at it's full 720x576 on the BeagleBone using ubuntu 12.04 without any mucking about. (I've had no luck with em28xx) - so this suggests to me that Steve is right, this driver ...
