Re: is the Raspberry Pi a waste of time?

It depends what a waste of time is. I found that my unboxed 'Pi attracted a lot of interest...does this piece of junk actually work? I took it to work (IT does not feature very high :( and a co-worker actually took my spare home and booted it - and now his children (Senior High School) found a new i...

Re: Making a backup of SD card

Hi, thanks for all the friendly answers. Appreciated by Noob. Question: Is it possible to have say a 8GB SD card, load the distro image on it, and then use the balance of the SD card as a separate partition for data (eg the /home directory) Is it possible to only "backup" the "system partition" on m...

Hi,

I had the same problem as the initial question: How do I run a Python script.

Wrote a quick blog on this - I now know 3 ways to do this.

Making a backup of SD card

Hi, what is the best way to make a backup copy of a Raspbian SD card? I did some confuguration changes, and would love to make a "restore point" backup before going further so I have a decent fall back point should things go bad. I tried using Win32diskimager and instead of doing a write (to create ...

Re: RS - no Customs Tariff Codes listed on outside of packag

Hi James, the block where the code needs to be filled in was left BLANK - Pi & accesories is not the code - it should have been something like 8542.31 - or a note "see invoice for HS tariff headings" and all items could be declared properly. I've imported via Amazon USA - also multiple items - and h...

Re: RS - no Customs Tariff Codes listed on outside of packag

I updated my blog with more info on this issue - see http://nvdd.info/VYuvBa The key question: Is RS going to jack up there service levels or not? If RS is not prepared to complete the Customs Declaration Forms properly, I won'n be prepared to do any other business with them in future. The current a...

Re: RS - no Customs Tariff Codes listed on outside of packag

Hi Vic, there is space on the customs form pasted by RS on the front of the package for the sender declaration of the Tariff Code - right next to the declaration of the value of the content. I believe the code is an international standard - and should be the same no matter to which country the packa...

Re: RS - no Customs Tariff Codes listed on outside of packag

What should the tax rate be on computer components? Hi James, I'm not an expert on this issue - but reading the sheets, I guess between 0 and 10%. I'll try to find out. But RS's office in South Africa should be able to assist the best. I just spoke to the South African Post Office International Ser...

RS - no Customs Tariff Codes listed on outside of package

Hi, For us South Africans RS is creating a lot of issues and unwarranted costss by not providing a Customs Tariff Code very visible on the out side of the packages See http://nvdd.info/UH7bsk for a discussion of issues and costs created by this. RS only stated on the outside of package I received Po...

Ok,

RS has a problem.

Thanks for giving us feedback at times.

I'll have to wait in South Africa till mid November :(

But guys, we have the right to complain about failed promises, but please don't get abusive!

I beleive RS is trying to recover from a bad situation the best they can :)
