If the output is open collector, then it's unlikely you would damage your Pi with it, it just won't register the input.

Thanks man, I used a 10k resistor on pulse, but the coin accpetor still doesnt work

Re: Coin Acceptor in Raspberry Pi B+ [HELP]

If it's similar to the AdaFruit device, http://www.adafruit.com/products/787 note what it says: " connect a 10K (1K to 100K is fine) pullup resistor from the white wire to your microcontroller's VCC line (for Arduino, this is a +5V)" For the Pi, use the 3v3 on pin 1 Which makes total sense if the o...

Hello guys,

I have a question, is possible to use this (http://www.vishay.com/docs/83760/tcrt5000.pdf) on raspberry pi? How I do? Sorry im beginner...

Re: Coin Acceptor in Raspberry Pi B+ [HELP]

The output (white = coin pulse) sends 0.4v, not 12v That does not sound right. I ask again -- HOW do you know? Do you have a data sheet? Or are you relying on measurement? If so how did you make the measurement? If you get it wrong, you may damage your Pi. Possibly you have already damaged it. I us...

Re: Coin Acceptor in Raspberry Pi B+ [HELP]

How do you know the specification for the pulse output? How did you measure the 0.4V? In the absence of that information, I can see two possibilities: 1) The output is normally low (0.4V) and pulses to high (12V). The high pulse may have damaged the GPIO input. In this case the correct connection w...

I saw, thats the 12v is the DC on the coin accpetor, and coin acceptor dont sends 12v to pi. I tried this code and doesnt works

Coin Acceptor in Raspberry Pi B+ [HELP]

Hello guys, I need a little big help here :) I'm using RaspB+ and a Coin Acceptor. The manufacturer says: "coin acceptor sends pulses and you need to convert to 0 and 1 in a code"... OK, but, how I read the pulse? And if the manufacturer is wrong? Any suggests/solutions? The pulse is 30/ms The speci...
