Re: ras pi 4 nas and replication over internet

I use 'rsync' to back up my Nextcloud instance on one raspberrypi in my house, to a second raspberry pi. There is no reason why this cannot be done from one IP to another. You would need to ensure a fixed IP at one end: either you 'push' from your server to the back-up (which has the fixed IP), or y...

Re: Email server Rpi4 - tutorial needed

The main hurdle I gave is my ISP won’t provide me with reverse DNA lookup.

Ultimately this means my email often lands in my friends SPAM folders until they reply back to me, whereafter my email is considered NOT spam.

Re: Email server Rpi4 - tutorial needed

I followed the Sam Hobbs tutorial - which I then built on with wider reading, hence the more comprehensive list of restrictions I pasted above. I've read through a few articles on this, and am really happy with this configuration. I am satisfied that I am not excluding/rejecting any legitimate email...

Re: Email server Rpi4 - tutorial needed

Since you were successful in setting up postfix, I wanted to share my learnings on configuring /etc/postfix/main.cf for filtering unwanted emails. I learned that the following order of ‘restrictions’ lists successively / hierarchically filters unwanted email. /etc/postfix/main.cf: . . . # Allow conn...

@Skraaj

I’m really glad you persevered with this.

Like you, I’m a new ‘admin’, running my Pi for 9 months now as a Nextcloud and mail server. I am almost ready now to bin my google email accounts, having given up using Dropbox, OneDrive and Drive.

Cheers.

Great news!

What do you think of the Rainloop interface?

I often use it instead of my Outlook desktop client!

I think I remember having to install some php add-ons, but can't rightly remember. Sounds like you can't be too far away from success. I'm sure a little googling will help. I have these php modules: :~ $ php -m [PHP Modules] apc apcu calendar Core ctype curl date dom exif fileinfo filter ftp gd gett...

Have a look at Nextcloud.

/Mogens
I have been using Nextcloud on my Pi4; works perfectly. I strongly recommend a Pi4 over a Pi3/2 as you want improved eth0 performance.

(I no longer use Dropbox of Google Drive; OneDrive rarely if ever, too.)

Re: postfix for send-only on local network

Not an RPi specific problem, agreed, but I'm not a member of any other forums to ask for help on... ;) I worked out the solution myself as: 1. On RPi4, add my network (192.168.0.0/24) to /etc/postfix/main.cf at the 'mynetworks = ' parameter 2. Create a domain for my LAN behind my router, and add thi...

Re: eth0 configuration issue | webmin

For a coupe of reasons, I have decided to do a fresh install of raspbian buster on my Rpi3B. Strangely, even with ipv6 disabled, WEBMIN -> NETWORKING -> NETWORK CONFIGURATION, the NETWORK INTERFACES page STILL reports 'No address configured' inside the IPv4 Address column. There does appear to be a ...

Re: postfix for send-only on local network

OK, maybe I can put the problem more simply. I have three raspberrypi machines sat behind a router/gateway. #1 is a postfix mail server, #2 and #3 are not and instead run other tasks. How do I configure #2 and #3 to send me emails (and without being rejected by #1’s strict postfix EHLO/HELO etc. con...

Re: Pi4 as a NAS

I use a Pi4 2GB runing raspbian buster on a 16GB Sandisk Ultra microSD card. I use a Toshiba U3 Dynadock as my powered external USB hub (I connect the Cat5 cable direct to the Pi4 eth0, not via the Dynadock - I didn't want the network traffic running over the Pi4's USB 3.0). I use two 1GB Toshiba ex...

Ditch noobs - run with the latest raspbian, and start again..? (Since it doesn't sound like you've invested too much configuration effort so far..?) Also, when you have a working configuration, make a back-up image, that way you can quickly get back up and running if things go off the rails... I bac...
