Re: usbtv

Mace Moneta compiles newer kernels for the Raspberry Pi that you could try. Not sure if that would help you, but it can't hurt to take a look. He makes the newer kernels available via Dropbox. See his comment on this thread:

Re: SSH Problem

I noticed errors with openssh-server, lightdm, and midadm when doing an update. I found a Bugzilla report that addresses this issue. To get SSH working after an update, you need to remove a few packages, then reinstall the SSH server. See comment #3 on this posting: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_...

Re: New raspberrypi-vc packages available

There must have been a delay in updating the content of the repositories. That's the only thing that makes sense to me now. :D A day later, I can now see updated "vc" packages are available: # yum check-update Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit raspberrypi-firstboot.armv5tel 17.3-...

Re: New raspberrypi-vc packages available

Andrew, When I do a "yum check-update", the only packages slated for updating are: selinux-policy.noarch 3.10.0-161.fc17 updates selinux-policy-targeted.noarch 3.10.0-161.fc17 updates tzdata.noarch 2012i-1.fc17 updates tzdata-java.noarch 2012i-1.fc17 updates yum-langpacks.noarch 0.3.0-4.fc17 updates...

In a pinch, I downloaded the vcgencmd executable from here, and it worked. https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware ... opt/vc/bin

Tieum, how did you get the vcgencmd on Fedora? I just installed the latest release candidate from here http://scotland.proximity.on.ca/raspber ... es/rpfr17/ and cannot find that command. Nor can I find where to install it from. :(

Since this is a Fedora sub-forum, that command would be, as root:
# yum install qmmp

All well and good....but where to find Cacao on Fedora? I can't find an ARM version for F17. I'm attempting to build it from source, but not having much luck yet.

Re: Fedora 17 ARM

That's odd what you are seeing about the repositories. I'm using the exact same image (test-003). I'm seeing the repositories. I did a "yum update" and 36 packages got updated. I installed a few other packages (like gparted), just to test it, and it worked fine. By the way, this time around, I did n...

Raspberry Pi Fedora Remix 17 update

The silence surrounding F17 has been deafening! ;)
After sniffing around a bit, I found this recent post by Chris Tyler of Seneca College.

If you are still interested in the F14 remix, the torrent for it still appears to be alive. See this page on where to get the torrent file. http://www.cnx-software.com/2012/03/08/instructions-to-run-raspberry-pi-fedora-14-remix-in-qemu/ But if you're interested in newer stuff, the F17 nightly builds...

Re: Download Fedora Remix?

Since Fedora last week released F17 for ARM, there will hopefully be a more official "Remix" release before too long. From this page: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Architectures/ARM/Fedora_17_GA "Raspberry Pi support is not included in Fedora 17 GA because it does not meet the Fedora release guideli...

The interpreted mode version of Java installed under Fedora does not support the cacao option as suggested by dacha. So.....how do I go about getting the mixed mode version, as discussed by xranby? I feel like I'm beating my head against the wall. Using the links provided, I am attempting to build I...

Dismal Java (OpenJDK) performance on F17

I've installed MySQL and Tomcat6 on my R-PI. I put a copy of a test database I have, and then a full web app on it. Why? Because I can! I didn't expect it to perform well, but had to do it anyway....for fun. Because, face it, we all want to try and run our production software on a cellphone-class CP...

I've created images with the new kernel for all 3 versions; https://www.dropbox.com/sh/lsynappe4o7mu8z/qnQMn_kgb1 I've only tested the one without X, but the others should work. Please give feedback. This happened to me when I got a powered usb hub. I found that the plug was causing feedback through pin 1 (+5V). All I did was cover that pin up with pvc tape and it started working clear as a bell :) I'm all game to give this a try. I'm seeing the same issue. Where is pin 1? Is it P1 labeled in t...

Yes, I've seen it. Er, I used to see it. That message has vanished for me once I got a good quality power supply, and plugged the keyboard and mouse into a powered USB hub.

Silver Bullet: Quality power supply, powered USB hub

I'm reading a lot of posts about poor first experiences with a RPi. I had many of these same symptoms: *) Keyboard is not reliable (or working at all) *) Mouse is not reliable (or working at all) *) Random kernel panics *) Errors reading SD card I swapped in lots of different keyboards and mice. Tha...

Re: New Raspberry Pi won't see keyboard

I was having very similar problems. My keyboard says the power rating is 100ma, which should be supported. However, time and time again I was having inconsistent results. Finally I bit the bullet and started using a powered USB hub. My mouse and keyboard inconsistencies vanished.

<t>My experience was similar to what nmcc posted. On a Windows 7 host I installed Fedora 16 in a VirtualBox VM.  Then using QEMU to simulate an ARM processor, I installed the Fedora Remix for Raspberry Pi in a VM. (Instructions for doing that came from elsewhere on this forum.) From the Fedora repos...
