Running a server for an old game like Quake.

I'd like to use my Raspberry Pi to host a server for an old game like Quake or Unreal Tournament 99 so that I can hook it direct to my modem via Ethernet cable and just let it run all the time. That way I wouldn't have to mess with port forwarding or anything like that, my PC wouldn't have to use re...

Re: Good keyboard and mouse for the Raspberry?

I use a basic super cheap mechanical USB keyboard. It works great for me. I don't use a mouse with my Pi so I dont know about that.

Three years?!? Okay I have a couple of questions.

1) what do you use them for?
2) What OS do you use?
3)Really? Three YEARS?

Re: what is the most popular RaspberryPi OS

Not sure there are any official figures (how would you collate them?) but Raspbian will be the most used, it's the recommended version and has all the latest work done in it so most people will be using it by default. I suspect OpenELEC may be in second place, but as I said, it's really difficult t...

Re: Adding extra LED lights to a Raspberry Pi 2

I just wanted to make my RPi case light up. There must be some way to accomplish this without soldering directly to the RPi then. Perhaps an LED extension?

Adding extra LED lights to a Raspberry Pi 2

Has anyone had any luck soldering on extra LED lights to a Raspberry Pi? This is something I am interested in doing to a RPI 2. Would like some instruction. Thanks so much!

Re: loading roms directly to sd card through laptop

On a Linux system yes, for Windows you need to download an ext4 reader or boot a Live Linux CD. You could also share your laptop's Internet with the Pi via a wire and then you can transfer files over the network using FileZilla or something else. I'm also interested in this. How does an ext reader ...

I'm very interested in you research into using the RaspberryPi as a gaming computer. What conclusion did your research come to. My RP hasn't come in the mail yet. This seems very unusual to me. I could understand if the OS was going to be primarily marketed to NTSC regions but that doesn't seem to be the case at all.

Re: DOSBox on Raspberry Pi

I experimented with DOSBOX early on with the Pi. It works okay as long as the game you're trying to run isn't too late in the period of DOS games. I ran, I think was the first 6, Wizardry games on a 256MB Model B. A Pi2B might handle the next one or two okay as well. Thanks for the reply. Thats fun...

DOSBox on Raspberry Pi

How feasible is it to get DOSBox running on Raspberry Pi? I'm just looking to run some old abandonware games. Nothing taxing on the hardware and no networking stuff.

Is it possible?

Thanks.

This will give you the reason why using the Pi is not a very good Idea The graphics card in a gaming computer, gets very hot, this is due to very fast changing signals, At the peak of signal change more current is ...
