Re: Fan Power

Thanks for all the suggestions, it looks like soldering to the GPIO back is the way to go for me.

Re: Fan Power

I need all the available USB ports for other things, I am currently using jumper wires to some of the GPIO power pins and just hoped there was somewhere else on the board I could install a few header pins to free up the GPIO.

Fan Power

Is there anywhere other than the GPIO pins that could conveniently provide power for a fan for a Raspberry Pi Model 4 B?

That worked great, though installing via the add/remove programs applet did not, nor did a direct install via the HPLIP website.

Thanks!

[SOLVED] HPLIP for Buster

Has anyone succeeded in getting HPLIP working in Buster? Their standard install fails, I think because of some slight differences in names of modules in the QT4 and QT5 series. The current version of HPLIP claims not to support Debian 10.1, only 10.0, but it didn't work even when we were at version ...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Well, I think you should copy anything you want off the Stretch installation, and then start with a fresh Buster install. I did that and the software works fine. Then you can copy things back over. You can't upgrade Stretch to Buster because the /boot partition is a much larger size on Buster and yo...

As best I can tell, it will work if you are using Buster but not with Stretch with the latest update.

No heirloom-mailx with Buster?

I usually use heirloom-mailx and ssmtp to send messages with software under Stretch, but when trying to install heirloom-mailx on a Buster Pi, I get the message that there is no install candidate. Does anyone have a workaround for this? [email protected]:~ $ sudo apt-get install heirloom-mailx Reading package l...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Bob, I just did an update of a stretch installation and got the following error. raspimjpeg: /lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.28' not found (required by raspimjpeg) The camera won't start. Strangely, I updated a second system at the same time with no problem. OK, we now have tota...

Re: STICKY: Raspbian 'Buster' 2019-06-20 / 07-10

This isn't quite a bug... In order to fulfill being a desktop computer replacement, printing is required. I've been using HPLIP on my 3+ quite successfully to use our wireless HP printer, but the add/remove software HPLIP doesn't support Buster (Version 3.18.12). HPLIP has now released a version tha...

Re: Buster bug report thread

I used HPLIP to set up a wireless HP laser printer on Stretch with no issues, but the installation does not complete on Buster. It claims to successfully install the required plug-in, but then claims continually that I need to install said plug-in. I have installed it both through the toolbox and ma...

Re: STICKY: HOWTO: Move the filesystem to a USB stick/Drive

Paulv, I've tried your instructions a half dozen times with a Full Buster on a model 4 B and it isn't quite working (using the PARTUID). A number of steps appear to need updating, but once I did get it working no other usb sticks could mount when plugged in, so there appears to be some further subtl...

Buster Lite and Raspi-config

I just loaded up an sd card with Buster Lite. Everything went well until I tried to set the keyboard where I got mostly gobbledygook characters (just black boxes). It managed to do language and time zone just fine, then went awol, so it looks like the language table is messed up somehow. Anybody els...

I just loaded Buster on a test system and Mathematica no longer appears in the software list. Has something changed with the licensing? This would be enough to stick with Stretch!

Re: crontab and DST issue

First, this problem occurred in two time zones, Eastern Daylight and Pacific Daylight, so I think the clue is in jojopi's response about cron subtracting the month without correcting for DST. I note that this only occurs in the spring when we move forward an hour. As far as I'm concerned, last-week ...

crontab and DST issue

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface automatic purge

Bob,
The automatic purging is no longer working, whether using % or fixed GB levels as criteria. The disk fills to the requested level but then stops recording anything else.
