Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Thanks, entering 7.0 in the php section did the trick, and thanks Bob for making a note of that in the installer.

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Bob, Now that Buster is out I'm having problems updating a Stretch installation. update.sh seems to work fine, but after I accept all the settings I get the following messages E: Unable to locate package php7 E: Unable to locate package php7-cli E: Unable to locate package libapache2-mod-php7 And th...

What is the J2 header for on the Model 4B?

Could it be a power/reset button??? That would be great.

No Mathematica in Buster

I just loaded Buster on a test system and Mathematica no longer appears in the software list. Has something changed with the licensing? This would be enough to stick with Stretch!

Re: crontab and DST issue

First, this problem occurred in two time zones, Eastern Daylight and Pacific Daylight, so I think the clue is in jojopi's response about cron subtracting the month without correcting for DST. I note that this only occurs in the spring when we move forward an hour. As far as I'm concerned, last-week ...

crontab and DST issue

I have a job that runs at 3 minutes after midnight on the first of the month. This month, after the Daylight Saving TIme transition, it apparently picked up the wrong time although the DATE command shows the correct time. Have others observed this? This month it generated a file with the February da...

You can start with the Raspberry Pi C beginners guide:

Free download as pdf. The MagPi magazine also has a lot of C programming articles that are instructive.

I just wanted to thank you for enabling BerryLan on a Zero W, it works great and enables a lot more inexpensive projects with field setup of the WiFi. Truly a great tool.

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface automatic purge

Bob,
The automatic purging is no longer working, whether using % or fixed GB levels as criteria. The disk fills to the requested level but then stops recording anything else.

Well, we've got 4 cats and 5 cat boxes so they don't argue over who is using which one. After a while I can tell who did what by the shape of the poop! Of course that doesn't work with the pee...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Yes, that sounds like the problem. I will try using Max Space in GB and see if that works. I had to rebuild the entire system it locked up so badly this time. Fortunately, that doesn't take too long.

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Bob, I can't quite prove it yet, but I suspect that the purge based on % of disk space left is not working properly. My disk seems to fill up and then the program locks up instead of deleting old videos. If I can get in on time and delete them manually, all is fine, but the automatic purge doesn't s...

Re: Configuring WiFi without LAN and/or laptop with BerryLan

BerryLan works great on the Model 3 but not the ZeroW. I've got embedded computers where having that capability on the ZeroW would really be great. I must admit I'm mystified why it doesn't work on the ZeroW but does on the 3.

Re: catPooPee

Well I did something similar (just video with motion) to see which cat was missing the box. It turned out to be the one with arthritis. Rather than video identification, could you do it by weight? That might be a lot simpler in the long run.

Re: Need help setting up a raspberry pi camera that streams to the web

I too have been using RPi_Cam_Web_Interface very successfully, and think they did a great job on it. Just be sure you port forward the appropriate information to get it out on the web. I've got two cameras set up 3000 miles away running beautifully. If it will be remotely managed, you would want to ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B parameters?

You might consider running the pi off a set of rechargeable batteries, and just using the car power to recharge the batteries. That would solve the UPS and you would only need to protect the battery charging circuit from surges which should be simpler.

Bob, I did set up autostart in the initialization and that section is in rc.local. I've tried starting the other package both before and after the raspimjpeg ...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Part two is how to get an address from outside since the internet provider can change your address at will. Here I use fapcam1 with port 9880 as an example and the directory chosen in the initial setup is cam1. At the remote location, login to the internet wireless with another computer. In a browse...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Yes, port forwarding is easy if you have access to the router the camera system goes through to get to the internet. Log into the router as administrator and figure out the ip address of the raspberry pi in question. Somewhere in the router configuration there will be port forwarding and set up this...
