Re: IoT remote access with iPhone or android

You could try using something running the remote client as an intermediary between the phones and the Pi.

A little roundabout, but it might work.

Until they get that added, it's working well from a scheduled task on startup.

That kind of sounds like it's having a problem actually saving the configuration.

I had some really flaky behaviors that were fixed when I simply re-flashed the card with the OS again.

Re: Universal Apps on Windows 10 IOT

I think it has more to do with them using the Windows phone OS as a starting point for that. At least that's the impression I get, and it would make sense.

You get a very cut down (understandably) version of what would be available on a server or desktop.

Re: Universal Apps on Windows 10 IOT

I haven't tried to run any service apps on there. But still, there are quite a few things that are not present in the included version of the .NET framework. If you're trying to reference one of those, it's not going to work. Even writing a really simple application I ran into a number of missing cl...

Re: Universal Apps on Windows 10 IOT

It has to be a universal application to run on IoT, but not all universal applications will necessarily run on there. The IoT version on the Pi does NOT support the full range of functionality that would be available on the desktop version of Windows 10. It's very stripped down. I can't say this is ...

Unfortunately still,
The video driver for the Raspberry PI is still under development, and its performance has not yet been optimized.
At least from my point of view, this is one of the last remaining major missing pieces.

Re: Web Browser for Windows 10

The latest WIndows 10 IOT Core will happily allow you to place a WebBrowser control onto a UI page of your application. You can set properties to show any web browser controls to allow users to enter a url, go back, forward, reload, etc. I did just this, put a WebView control on a universal app wit...

Re: Win10 IoT raspberry pi 2 Autostart Headless App

Yes, I would try explicitly removing the application, restarting the Pi, then redeploying your application.

I had a similar issue where it seemed to be holding onto the wrong version of the deployed files.

One would have thought that an app would have read permission to its own Assets folder, especially seeing as that's where the splash logos are loaded from... If you could use USB redirection you might be able to get fancy and get around this.

I kind of doubt that's even supported in core though.

Re: Reading from a file using c#

Has anyone actually seen a specific reference to what context an application runs under? I assume it's the local DefaultAccount, but that is just an assumption.

You could try assigning permissions just like you would normally since it sounds like that just doesn't have permissions to the path.

Re: Background Project

I don't know how you would get the currently running processes, that seems to be one of the parts they left out under diagnostics. You could add a check for a mutex in the application when it starts, to prevent multiple copies from running. Then add a scheduled task to try start the app periodically...

Re: SmartCards

I'm using a pcProx RFID card reader with an application on the Pi.

The application doesn't really interact with the reader though, the reader just dumps what it scans as keyboard input with a carriage return at the end. So it just goes to whatever has the focus. Works fine.

I believe I've found a solution to this. I created a text file on the Pi named "SyncTime.ps1", and put the text of the command I want to run in it "w32tm /resync /force". Then I ran this script in PowerShell so that it would create a scheduled task that would sync the time on start up. schtasks /Cre...

Re: Hardware Watchdog timer from C# ?

It will reboot automatically on an error, I'm not sure if that's coming from the CPU or the OS. The problem with that is that when you have a default start application, and it throws an unhandled error, it can cause it to reboot several times then hang. I've had it get into a state where I had to re...

I've been working on time synchronization. I can get it to sync to our domain controller, but only when I run the resync manually from PowerShell when connected to the Pi.
