Re: How many Plex streams can Raspberry Pi 3B+ handle?

3 years ago, I tested on a 3B+ with 9 devices (combination of PCs, tablets & phones). All accessing a different video and none of them tiled.

Re: Booting Up Headless

Please know that I know how to use nano and how to use the cmd screen. What I do not know is what files to change so at boot my program runs.

Do I change the cmdline.txt or the config.txt or is there another?

Neilgl,

I'm not sure what file to put this cron command in so it runs at boot.

Accessing HDMI After Booting Headless

My project calls for random .JPG pictures to be displayed on a HDMI color monitor but I want the RPi3B+ to be headless running a Python program.

I don’t know where to start setting this up. Everything I find has the RPi booting into GUI.

Is this doable and if so, how?

Booting Up Headless

Sort of new user about this area. Using the GUI environment, I wrote a Python program, tested and now ready to put it into a headless environment but uncertain as exactly how to do it. I reviewed the ‘Getting started with Raspberry Pi’ and the help guides ‘Configuration’ & ‘Remote Access’. I’m confu...

Can’t find my wifi on boot

I have a RPi3 running Debian 10.3 OS with a static IP address and I wanted to run and access it remotely using Putty or any other SSH app. Problem is, the RPi doesn’t connect to my router on boot up even though I have it set to wait for wifi on boot. So, I go out to it with a monitor, mouse and keyb...

Re: Convert C# to Python 3

I have not given up on this project but some portieres came up. Putty didn't help me because i couldn't get it to output HEX. But I did find a 'Serial Port Utility' that both writes and reads HEX. I was able to do some quick testing and found out that the micro-controller has several pre-programmed ...

Re: Convert C# to Python 3

What this does is lets me know when the program is going to end. At 19, I plug the cube in and on the cube, all of the LEDs light up white and freezes. If I run the program again, the freeze stops as the program starts. I can replicate this. If I just let the program run again and again, I haven't b...

Re: Convert C# to Python 3

Can you give some URLs for the stuff you've discovered? http://forum.amperka.ru/threads/%D0%A3%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%B2%D0%BB%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%B5-4%D1%854%D1%854-led-rgb-%D0%BA%D1%83%D0%B1%D0%BE%D0%BC.14601/ And AFAIK, python writes serial data at the same time the ser.write is called. Re: Convert C# to Python 3

OK! Things are looking better as far as clues are concerned. I changed the for loop to a while loop of 20 and displayed the counter. Just as the counter reached 19, I plugged the cube in and all of the LEDs turned to white and stayed. I was able to duplicate this 6 times in a row. Between 19 & 20 ga...

Re: Convert C# to Python 3

The last code change i made where I used the the writes you last suggested, made something happen. Maybe I was lucky on the timing. As you suggested, I put the writes into a loop of 20 ending in an extra extra 0xED. Then I put that in a loop of 20 ending in another 0xED. I ran the program 4 times an...

Re: Convert C# to Python 3

The LEDs on the bottom side of the circuit board only serve as legs. Yes!! Just cheap legs so the ICs will not touch the table top. They do not have a circuit going to them. They do not light up. The 2 additional chips are LPD8806D 1137 chips. Ill write some more loops, test more and get back to you...

Re: Convert C# to Python 3

When I connect the 5V power supply to the cube, it starts a display program that does a 15 minute series of various light patterns. Power it off and back on after 10 seconds and it starts the patterns all over again. Yes, the micro-controller did come with some programming. I can only speculate here...

Re: Convert C# to Python 3

Phatfil, The cube micro-controller does run through a series of pre programmed LED displays when it is first plunged in (it has it's own 5V power supply). The cube does not have an indicator showing any activity over the serial port. My RPi does have the 3.5 to 5v hat. It seems to work with other pr...

Re: Google Drive replacement - Using a Pi4 with external SSD

The RPi 4 can access your drive via the USB3 so that part is good. You may have to run SAMBA for your Windozzz OS to see the RPi drive to access it. I hear reports most every week about data storage companies getting hacked. Hacking companies is a challenge and prestige to the hackers. Keeping in ho...

Re: Control Raspberry From Pc Via Telemetry

If what you are asking is about GUI based, meaning you control your drone with a GUI program running on your RPi, I think the answer is no. Yes, you can access your RPi via wifi but the OS just gives you control panel and no GUI. I tried this last year, however, there may have been some recent advan...

Re: Rpi4 NOOBS halted

It is hard to know what is on the inside of those HDMI cables. Thick plastic insulators with so very thin 28 or 30 gauge wire is NOT what is needed. Even some of the more expensive cables with gold tips are not worth the price.

Start with name brands with good reviews.

Let us know if that works.

Ankith26, Not just sitting on my thumbs, I tried this code (it runs) but it doesn't seem to make the cube do anything. The output is what I expected but maybe not what the cube wants. I am trying to understand how to send hex serial information to the cube and it do something. However when I ran the below program using my serial read p...

Re: Rpi4 NOOBS halted

Not sure if this is your issue, but how do you have your RPi4 connected to your monitor (or is it a TV)? I have found that the RPi need to know a monitor is connected (something on one of the pins). Without that info, it will not display anything. If you use certain adapters to connect (not native H...

Re: I keep running into road blocks.

Will you point me to an example of software PWM that uses RGB LEDs? I have a string of RGB LEDs that have s separate wire for each color (they are not pixels). I'd like to use them with a audio input. Another frustration I have when find any examples is that they were written way back and the curren...
