maximum video height output

Hi all, I have just compiled MPV video player on a RPI2. I can use its video filters on the fly, they are working great. But when I try to create a filter to transform 3D HALF-SBS into 3D FP, I get an error. Actually, when heigth is bigger than 2048, I get this error. Is this a hardware limitation? ...

omxplayer and 3D FP

Hi,

Why omxplayer only supports 3D FP with MVC files? Are there any plans to support other formats?

Kodi (XMBC) does support Frame Packing almost from any source format, making its conversion at realtime.

Re: Swap FrameBuffer Images without gaps

Thanks for your answer, AndyD. Actually I was looking for some variable/memory address that would point to where the active framebuffer being displayed is located in memory. This is how many old architectures used to do this task. I am a beginner in Raspberrys world. When I tried moving directly the...

Swap FrameBuffer Images without gaps

Hi, I am trying to display some image while calculating/preparing the new one. Once the calculations are completed and the new image is already in memory, I would like to change the display framebuffer location to point to the new image localtion. I am trying to change from one image to another (or ...

Re: omxplayer and 4K

Made some more tests. I will try to answer all suggestions/comments in this post. I was just trying to stress the GPU, I am not planning to run 9 full HD videos. 4 omxplayer with 480p or even 720p works perfectly here, without lags. When I said I could run 7 omxplayer, the result was very, very slow...

Re: omxplayer and 4K

I dont have a 4K tv at this moment to test, but RPI handled up to 7 omxplayers playing simultaneosly Full HD video in HDMI mode 32 ([email protected]) I first tried 4 (2x2) omxplayers instances, no problem at all (despite the fact they were about 50% slower, as 6by9 had predicted) nohup omxplayer --win 0...

Re: omxplayer and 4K

Well, if X can handle 4K resolution, I wonder if it would be possible to configure an fb console with 3840x2160 and execute 4 omxplayer playing full HD videos simultaneously, despite performance problems.

Do you think this could work?

Re: omxplayer and 4K

Thanks, 6by9. Now I got it.

I was also looking at 3D resolution, so this explains why Full SBS would be impossible, right?
I was wondering if this was a ffmpeg limitation...

Re: 3D Frame Packing (FP)

OK, I got it. But reading about 3D FP, the output through HDMI should be in that resolution for full HD (1920x2205), no matter how the video was stored (SBS, TB, MVC, etc), right? I understand that the player should get each eye view, compose them into the 3D FP format and send to HDMI. Thats why my...

Re: 3D Frame Packing (FP)

Thanks for your reply, dom. But I still dont understand one thing: AFAIK, rpi is limited to 1920x1080p videos resolution, right? So how is it possible to send 1920x2205? I have rendered myself a small video at this resolution (1920x1080 plus 45 lines plus 1920x1080 = 1920x2205). Then I tried "omxpla...

3D Frame Packing (FP)

I am using omxplayer with SBS 3D movies without problem. But now I got a projector that only accepts 3D Frame Packing. I noticed there is a flag on omxplayer to force FP. My questions: 1. What media format should I use? Do I need to render the media first in this format (Top Bottom with 45 lines = 1...

Re: pngview

Thanks for all replies Dom, I forgot to say that I already set dispmanx_offline to 1, and it didnt work. Same restrictions... The .png files have the same background image resolution, so it would be possible to "position" the overlayed information over the right place without many calculations. Besi...

Re: pngview

Hi all,

I am using gpu_mem=256, too. Tvjon, I cant reproduce your sync' loss, it never happened to me.

When I tried the extra level, my screen just went blank, but no sync loss. All images are 1920x1080 here

Re: pngview

I have had time to look at it. Unfortunately, I believe that this is a limitation of using the DispmanX interface. A solution would be to modify pngview so that it could display more than one image. I am not going to promise anything as I am pretty busy at the moment. Hi AndyD, Did you have any suc...

Re: pngview

Do you mean this pngview ? If so I will have a look. One note, make sure you give different layer numbers for each image using the -l (that is a lower case L) command line option. AndyD, I downloaded pngview from your excellent library. I don't know what is the problem, I was just beginning to look...
