Cura 3.3.1

I installed Cura 3.3.1, but right after the disclaimer it crashes. I noticed in the configuration, it shows OpenGL: Not yet initialized. I tried to install open GL using raspi-config, but I only have 2 options "G1 Legacy" and "G2 GL (Fake KMS)". Shen I select G1, i get "The GL driver is disabled", w...

Re: Writing a string to file

Hi HermannSW,

I am confirming that your solution worked. I was able to write my string to a file. Thanks a lot.
I knew it was a basic question, but for some reason all the examples I found on google were pretty much the same thing, copy from the keyboard and write to a file. :)
Thanks again.

Re: Writing a string to file

char *data = "hello world"; fputs(data, fPtr); or fputs("hello world", fPtr); Thanks. That looks like what I am looking for. Will try it tonight when I get home. I am basically trying to create a call file for an asterisk VoIP Server running on that Pi. The data that I am trying to write to the fil...

Re: Writing a string to file

It is not that. I meant I assigned my test data to the "data" variable instead of reading it from the stdin. So what I wrote is correct. The question is how to populate the variable without reading it from the keyboard. It seems like a complicated question. I expected I would get a 1000 replies 1 mi...

Writing a string to file

I have a basic C question. I have a string that I generate dynamically and need to write it to a file. All the tutorials I was able to find get the input from stdin. My code is based on this. https://codeforwin.org/2018/01/c-program-create-file-write-contents.html I tried data = "hello world"; inste...

Re: Can you call a url from a python script?

Nice. So it is all based on calculations? In my case I'd rather base it on a sensor because the light in my backyard might be different for whatever reason.

Re: Can you call a url from a python script?

Thanks hippy. Your code worked and the curtains now open and close on schedule. Thinking about it I will write a python script that queries the SQL server every minute to check for the programming for all devices and execute accordingly.

Re: Can you call a url from a python script?

Originally when I started those projects I was using those fancy websites which some offer apps with, but once you get to a certain data limit you have to start a paid account. That is why I switched to the pi. The interface I created is better than the website i started with and I have a lot more f...

Re: Can you call a url from a python script?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will try them hopefully soon. One thing to clarify is what I meant by hard coding. My present plan is to put the scheduled curtain openings in the crontab. Of course (at least to my understanding) is I will have to edit the crontab from linux. I would prefer to give...

Can you call a url from a python script?

I built a few curtain openers with arduino based controllers. I access the units using a built in webpage that i created to open and close the curtain. To open the curtain http://ip_address/open and to close (surprisingly) http://ip_address/close :) Now I want to take it to the next level, I need to...

Re: Adding a second USB camera

It looks like my newer camera may not be supported then because I am not able to get video from it even when it is by itself (the camera works in Windows)
Do you think I have to reinstall the fswebcam or that should not be necessary?

Re: Adding a second USB camera

When I plug them both (because that is my whole idea) to use it to have eyes around the house, the first camera stops working. When I plug the new one I don't get video. Only when I have my original webcam by itself (I mean without the other camera) am I able to get video.

Adding a second USB camera

Hi

I have a USB web camera on my pi and need to add a second one that is unfortunately of a different brand. Not sure how to do that. I use mjpg-streamer to get live video off of my first camera.

Re: Could my pi be defective?

I am using the official power supply for the Pi4. I know in the past when I tried to use a third party, the red led would blink, but this is not the case here. Actually while replying it would sometimes just repeat one character at random. Since you mentioned power, I have a cheap USB webcam connect...

Re: Asterisk on a Raspberry Pi

That is what I am using FreePBX. I need to initiate an actual call from the command line. I experimented with twinkle, but it doesn't seem stable. I also looked at call files and read a bit about pycall (just reading a little), but they all seem to be geared towards playing sound files. I need to in...

Could my pi be defective?

I've had my pi4 for a few months now and I am mostly unimpressed with it. I've worked with 8 PIs before, mostly Pi3s. When my pi4 came, the board had a thread hanging out of it which i've understood some other people experienced. Recently it has been freezing momentarily every now and then. The mous...

Thanks. If I get this modem, how would I add it? or does it act as a SIP provider itself?
I may have one lying around at work that I can use to test.

Asterisk on a Raspberry Pi

Hi I have a Pi4. I downloaded the asterisk image and got two phones apps dialing each other with almost no problem, but now I would like to add an analog line on it so I can do something with it. I have a USRobotics USR5637 Voice modem. The pi recognizes the modem and i could dial out with minicom, ...

Of course I did try installing the library, but it tells me it has no installation candidate. The files themselves don't exist anywhere on the pi. I also tried what is described in the link below, but it doesn't work. https://github.com/pahaz/docker-compose-django-postgresql-redis-example/issues/1 I...

Tonido not accessible

Hi I installed Tonido (kind of a local cloud service). I disabled apache and ran the service which supposedly works on port 10001, but I can't access it using http://localhost:10001/ https://www.tonido.com/support/display/docs/Raspberry+Pi Below is the status. When I looked using netstat -an i don't...
