Thanks @HermannSW, I should have dug deeper! The camera with M12 lens isn't available at the moment from robotshop but should be soon, I'll grab one of those ASAP. Thanks for the details in the other threads, very useful information.

FWIW I got my project working great, using an Amazon Dash button and a Pi Zero W. The Pi senses the button press and prints a (blank) page on my laser printer: handy for my kids to get a sheet of paper to draw on. how can I test /home/pi/.config/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart without restarting?

I'm tweaking startup commands with an older Pi, and startup takes a while.

Any clues would be appreciated :D
