Installing latest fork-daapd?

I am trying to install the latest version of fork-daapd, since it has some fixes for the new 'Music' application on macOS computers. I did try installing via `sudo apt install fork-daapd, but get told that 'forked-daapd is already the newest version (26.4+dfsg1-1)', having first run `sudo apt update...

Compact SSD storage?

I am looking to add at least 1TB of storage to my Pi 3B+, ideally SSD, but it need to be compact. This means avoiding using an external USB drive, since it would require a larger housing. Can anyone suggest anything? Maybe a HAT designed for an mSATA card? On of the challenges is finding a solution ...

Re: Raspbian Stretch as DHCP server

Turns out one of my issues was due to installing NetworkManager (based on other instructions), since this was wanting to do its own thing and was causing issues with dnsmasq, which I had installed prior, since it seems to provide its own version. For now I have uninstalled NetworkManager - I'll reev...

I am trying to set up my Raspberry Pi Pi 3 Model B as a DHCP server, with the upstream network being on the wlan0 interface. My end goal is: internet <-----> wlan0 ...... eth0 <----> wifi router <-----> IoT devices Since I am at home and don't have access to the downstream wifi router my set up is a...

[resolved] Providing hardware version info in raspi-config?

Having just spent two hours trying to get Wifi configured on what I thought was Pi 3, when it was a Pi 2, I am wondering whether it would be worth having a view in `raspi-config` that shows hardware information? This would be more a way of providing an 'easy' place to check for this info. Not sure t...

Using Pi as a WiFi bridge?

I am looking to use a Raspberry Pi as a WiFi bridge. Basically I want it to connect to a WiFi network and then allow a connected access point (via Ethernet) to allow other devices to connect to it. Can anyone suggest how I go about doing this? The main need here is for a bunch of IoT devices, in a g...

Suitable browser for hardware accelerated video and kiosk?

Can anyone suggest a web browser for the Raspberry Pi that supports both hardware accelerated video and kiosk mode? I have recently tried using Chromium, but HTML5 video, freezes and then only starts playing again after intervals. Video was H264 and doing other tests indicated load was below to 0.05...

Re: Autolaunch application on login, with Pixels?

Just answering myself.

You can edit the file

Code: Select all

~/.config/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart
and add an entry there.

There is a blog article here: http://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2014/0 ... e-desktop/

Would it be worth making this available as a vagrant box? The idea being is that this would allow to experiment on solutions, where a Pi is no immediately available. There are number of non PIXEL images listed on the following site, but I feel it would be good to have PIXELs added: http://www.vagran...

Can anyone tell me how I would tell Pixel to auto-login in as a given user? I need to be able to make the change from the command-line, as I will be adding this to a script. We are looking to put in place a Kiosk, based on the Raspberry Pi and I am curious whether anyone has any suggestions on how to go about it, based on Pixel? Re: Raspberry Pi goes offline with hard-drive via USB hub?

I don't. I'll make this modification when I get home and see if it helps. - Thanks Also make sure the red power LED is on constantly. You will need a good 2-2.5A power supply AND a good quality micro USB cable. I made the change for max_usb_power. The red light flickers on and off, whether the driv...

Power usage min/max, by model?

Is there any information about the power usage of the Raspberry Pi, across models? I am thinking minimum and maximum ranges. I am not aware if the Pi supports stand-by, but that would be useful too.

I did have a look around, so if that information is available I must have missed it.

You don't need a hub to power one HDD drive.
I haven't had much luck with external 2.5" drives, without a powered hub. Are there any you can recommend that are low enough power usage to work?

Maybe even to the point where the computer is manufactured in one stage. How much could all this reduce the cost ...
