Yes I have got the kodi app for my smart phone but it's only basic, it doesn't have the context menu button so I can access, add to favourites, settings, information regarding movie (synopse).....wll at least if it does, I've missed it......as far as I'm aware there's only one such app available...o...

But is FLIRC the ultimate solution, I can get one for £16. Using FLIRC can more than one remote at once be programmed & can it work on any USB port (tv as well as PC), can FLIRC program literally any remote including a sky remote

because i just thought the infrared would be better i do have a wireless Mele F10 which runs off wifi but half the buttons dont work

I simply want to be able to use infrared remote control with my RPI as currently i am controlling with my mouse which is not ideal

OK, the above solution from the poster 'joan' is certainly worth considering & worth a try due to the very low cost. I like the speed of openelec, very nippy & seems stable, but as it is embbeded with Kodi it doesnt have a browser or terminal I find this confusing, as I said I am new to linux

I have just added it to the file but unfortunately it hasn't worked as I am still unable to see my HDD (though it powers up the light on the HDD, as it did before)
