Re: Raspberry Pi 4 External Wifi Antenna

All forgetting one thing. And it's something not generally known. If Notupus is a licensed Amateur radio operator. He could go on channel 1 (2.4GHz) setup a MESH node and transmit 1.5Kw (the max allowed). Possible (yes), Probable (not) All of the above would require modification of the PI, and he wo...

Re: smb filename different between Jessie and Buster on windows share

Thanks I will dig around. Your answer looks promising, since it address'es what I thought the problem might be. I am very good with windows and pc's. I don't know enough Linux as I do windows. It's been nice to learn since raspberry's are super cheap and if I really F' it up. I don't care I will nuk...

smb filename different between Jessie and Buster on windows share

HTML encoding seem to be the default for Buster in File Manager on windows SMB shares. Displayed on Jessie a windows share filename: "This is a file on windows.txt" Displayed on Buster a windows share filename: "This%20is%20a%20file%20on%20windows.txt" Pi doesn't matter it's in r...

Re: HDMI monitors says NO SIGNAL (solved)

Nightmare after doing an inplace dist-upgrade to debian buster. Upon reboot hdmi video was gone absolutely gone. What did the trick was: hdmi_force_hotplug=1 in config.txt Now this is also a problem with berryboot. AKA: WD disc drive units. If berryboot will not proceed in booting. A re-image of the...

Re: noobs v.1.9.3 missing driver for tl-wn723n

O.K. I got it running right but I don't like how I had to do it. I reinstalled 1.9.3 and tried again. Failed again. First off under the failing configuration. LSMOD does show r8188eu as a dependency. It was linked to the hardware and 80211 interfaces. So it should have worked. Now how I made it work...

Re: possible problem with net.ipv4.tcp_challenge_ack_limit

Definition of a bug: 1) If a problem is found within 5 years of a release of software and fixed it's a bug. 2) if a problem persists after 5 years it's a feature. So logically there is no such thing as a bug in software. It really is a problem. It's possible to hijack a communication from someone. A...

Re: Berryboot MagPi #46 dist-upgrade DO NOT DO IT.

No I mean berryboot, from sourceforge. The same software that is used by the WD product. Berryboot does not only work for WD. It will also work for any USB/Hard drive box. WD bases their drive and software on berryboot. Anybody who wants to try it on their WD setup go right ahead. More than likely y...

I had berryboot and jessie running just fine. I dist-upgraded a number PI2's and a PI3 with no problems. BUT! When I upgraded my berryboot system. Everything was fine until the first reboot. After that, I can't get pass the primary colors screen. Restarting the berryboot process over, will not updat...

Re: Warning: Got a PI3, Don't cheese out in the power cable.

The point is starting with a micro-usb connector going into the PI you are at a disadvantage. Starting with current. Once current is limited by insufficient cabling, there goes the voltage. It's ohms law. You can run but you can't hide from the law. The power supply I was using was over-kill for use...

Funny how you can google it and there is no connection for GIMP on PI. I must of had a brain fart. I didn't think about GIMP, I use it every so often on windoz. Thanks for the tip. edit for more info: Gimp is the ticket for editing. Not good for slideshows. I worked google using a different angle. I...

Any good graphic viewing programs for the PI?

Looking for something feature wise and stable like IFRANVIEW. Yes I know IFV can run under Wine. But a raspberry running under wine is not an option even for a PI3. Mirage would be nice, if it would not lockup and crash so easily. Has anybody found a good program. Free is nice, I would pay for it, i...

Re: Warning: Got a PI3, Don't cheese out in the power cable.

Polyfuses are notorious variable resistors. If you want 5V after the polyfuse you must go higher, to comp. Polyfuses work best as an input fuse to a regulator. No regulator here on the PI to comp.

I wish the schematics were published.

Warning: Got a PI3, Don't cheese out in the power cable.

While torturing my new PI3. I noticed the Red Led would blink for a very, very short cycle once in a long time. Everything continued to operate as normal even with the blink. I determined the cable from my 2amp 5V supply was less than ideal. Replaced it with an old Motorola phone charger cord. (they...

Looking to change NOOBS to have preloaded apps. This would be a separate other fork of NOOBS. What I want to accomplish is have a preloaded starter NOOBS with following two apps. NCID and GDEBI. Gdebi would be needed to later upgrade NCID (next version). NCID is a Call blocker and call process appli...

they won't be able to add all wheezy fixes in the future. Very understandable, MS was not able to fix all security problems. Some were so basic and structural, that a rewrite was needed. Win7 was a major step in that direction. Remember V8.1, V8.0 was EOL immediately. They won't say but I suspect i...

Well they just are not saying. Every software company knows even if they won't say when EOS for a product. Microsoft wanted to kill off XP at least three times.
