Video streaming in python code

Hey peeps, I made a rover with a raspberry pi cam and I'd like to see the camera feed on my computer. The rover is controlled via a gamepad (using a Python script) and i'd like to trigger video streaming with a button. For this, I've been looking for a way to do in Python code, but could not find an...

Basic on/off switch

Seemed pretty easy to make it first but it's tricky to do it right. I'm trying to make my xbox 360 controller to turn on and off the leds connected to GPIO pins. if joy.A(): if light >1: light=0 else: light = (light + 1) if light >0: GPIO.output(36,1) GPIO.output(38,1) GPIO.output(40,1) GPIO.output(...

Re: Official V4L2 driver

v4l2-ctl is just a test app - there's also qv4l2 as a GUI version. Did you have an intended application to stream to the network? V4L2 by itself is just a mechanism to deliver video frames. I don't actually. I tried VLC with this command: raspivid -o - -t 99999 -hf -w 640 -h 360 -fps 25|cvlc -vvv s...

Re: Official V4L2 driver

I'm getting error with the "autoreconf -vfi" command. Is there a reason why you're trying to build v4l-utils? It is already updated in the Raspbian repo. v4l-utils has moved on in the almost 3 years since the first post on this thread, and the build runes have changed. If you do want to rebuild it,...

Re: Introducing PIXEL desktop: new Raspbian release

Pixel is so great. Chromium add-on made it so much cooler. I also noticed we have adobe flash plug-in now. Together with the h264ify plug-in, using RPi as desktop PC becomes one step closer to reality. Now all I need is a preinstalled GUI based media player with built-in HW accelerated video playbac...

Is Pi3 fast enough to use it as VPN device?

Hey guys, I'm about to put one of my Pi 3's to a good use for a VPN project. The internet in my country is censored like crazy. Many great websites such as pastebin and imgur are blocked. Not even gonna mention rampant state surveilance... But whatever, I'd like to consult you guys about network spe...

Re: VLC player on the RPi 3

It does play the SD videos with software acceleration. But MMAL acceleration using Video Processing Unit (VPU) of Raspberry Pi does not work. VLC throws error when compiled with special instuctions to use MMAL. As far as I know no software other than OMX Player can play hardware accelerated videos a...

I took this official Pololu source as a reference to connect things: https://www.pololu.com/docs/0J40/1.a And then I found this source: https://github.com/FRC4564/Maestro/blob/master/README.md which seems like very well implemented but the thing is it doesn't work. Syntax error in if code

Hey peeps, Last year I made a hovercraft with Arduino and used skid steering via 2x motors. It worked great and controls were pretty accurate. So I'm trying to convert it to Python. Hi guys, I'm building myself a rover. So today I installed Webiopi to my Raspberry Pi 3 using instructions on this page: https://github.com/doublebind/raspi Then I did write some code from this example: https://issuu.com/themagpi/docs/issue_9_final/10?e=4599523/2587746 import webiopi GPIO = webiopi....

Controlling Pi rover over a hosted html page

Writing a mobile app requires Java knowledge and I don't know Java. So the best option would be for me to connect to the Pi's SSID via any device that has a web browser, and then control the motors & see camera from there. I don't want any solution that connects the Pi to my local network and requir...

Re: raspberry pi 4

I think if they want to improve upon the RPi3, they should look what they can do about these hardware limitations before adding a few Ghz faster processor or a few hundred Mibs of RAM. I'm no developer so I'm not aware whether this is viable in terms of cost or not. The most important upgrade would ...

Re: Extracting numbers from series of numbers

Do you need the leading zero's? You could split on the "," and then index the list to your variables, converting to int on the way. It's not about zeros actually. My input will produce floats starting from 0.0 to 99.9. I can omit the value after the dot it doesn't matter. But as I stated in my firs...

Extracting numbers from series of numbers

OK, so i need to extract certain numbers from the data coming from the bluetooth rfcomm. The data flows continuously. And it contains float numbers that are seperated by commas like: "14.26,03.41,0.2" What I want to do is to create 3 variables, convert these values from float to integer and then mak...

Is the data you are sending terminated with newline (\n) characters?

OK, this should've helped me but I get zero response from Raspberry Pi. Perhaps my baudrate is not correct?

Using Pi 3's bluetooth to send/receive data to smartphone

I want to connect my Android smartphone to Raspberry Pi 3 via bluetooth and receive gyroscope information to the Pi.

Is it possible to use RPi's internal bluetooth for that? I have HC-05 bluetooth module as well but i'd really like to make use of RPi's features.
