Re: RPi 3B+ Heat/CPU related improvements.

I had a good time reading this thread. Forums are such forums. I have the whole range of Pis from the original B to 3B+ and I can relate to thermal issues of 3B. I had to use it under heavy load with a copper heatsink and a fan to dissipate heat. After that implementation of cooling solution I manag...

Re: Telegram Desktop for Raspberry Pi

It's of little concern to me, I don't run a gui on my Pi's. I can't even get it on my Pi as trying that link in the only web client on my Pi (wget) just gives a bunch of html and javascript. However the Pi is about learning and there are two ways you could have helped with that: 1) Document what yo...

No way I personally will install binaries which some random guy posted on the forums. Provide link to sourcecode or be gone. Oh, come on. If it's not about binaries, I'd not even post. Since it's a headache to compile it, I provide binaries. Seriously, who does ever need to put some malware on rasp...

Telegram Desktop for Raspberry Pi

Hi there, guys. My endeavours had finally paid off, and I managed to bring Telegram Desktop build to ARM architecture. We already had telegram-cli and telegram-purple plugin for Pidgin, but I believe it's much more convenient to just use native official client. So, you're welcome to use it! You can ...

Mainline kernel + Debian Jessie image

Eric Anholt and Stephen Warren did a real hard job to implement BCM283x support in mainline kernel. So, I decided to play with it and make an image with pure Debian and upstream kernel on board. It is very basic system, however graphics, USB, bluetooth and WiFi dongles, GPIO are believed to work. I ...

Re: Debian armhf native user-mode runs on Raspberry Pi 3

Actually I do. I managed to run u-boot with mainline kernel which I compiled with current optimizations included (Broadcom SoC support, VC4 support, and RPi firmware support). Now I'm trying to debootstrap armhf Debian Jessie to bring it work. If I have some success I'm going to put raw image somewh...

Re: Overclocking Raspberry Pi 3

My Pi 3 doesn't arrive yet however I can tell that heavily overclocked SoC tends to perform slower than normal one. I know what I'm talking about: I used to kick my Pi 1 up to 1.4 GHz, yea, it was stable. But it was really slow on some heavy duty due to calculation errors meant above. I don't see ac...

Okay, I managed to figure out what the hell was wrong with my case. If you have username different from the default "pi" you're gonna have a problem, because run.sh uses full paths. So, you need to nano the script, find "long list of paths" thing, and edit every instance of "...

Re: New Open GL Driver, Bug report thread

My RPi 2 just freezes on boot with driver enabled, few times it had successfully booted but the screen got outta site (in 720p mode, in 1080p mode it just doesn't boot at all). I tried to change video memory split - no results. And yea, my TV used to say "unsupported format" while my exper...

What's up, guys. I already broke my mind with this question. Second day I'm trying to build Telegram Desktop app using manual for Ubuntu + QtCreator from Telegram's github. You are asking us to solve problems that do not really exist, if you use the matching OS.
Are you sure about that? Epiphany works bad even on Raspbian, it doesn't have any acceleration at all.

I use Debian cause it's much faster and optimized for ARMv7.

Re: Jessie 50% working Pi 2 B+ About to give up

The previous reply was right. If your raspberry can boot it's not duff. But I never met your problem. I always use Win32Imager to burn my SD cards with raspbian or debian images and everything works good. Try to download pure raspbian image (not NOOBS one) and burn your card with Win32Imager.

Hardware acceleration on Debian Jessie

Hi, guys. I know here's a lot of topics about hw acceleration on rpi but I didn't find anything helpful for my problem. I installed Debian Jessie (not Raspbian, actual Debian) and LXDE shell. After that I managed to set xf86-video-fbturbo driver to accelerate xserver. The problem is that Iceweasel b...

Re: Rasbiam ARMv7 optimization

Even as a quad core the RPi2 is not meant to be your main PC. It runs pretty well, but Internet browsing still leaves a bit to be desired. I noticed performance gains with the RPi2. Boot was faster. If you run KODI on it is is a whole lot faster. The I/O at the MicroSD is only somewhat faster. And ...

Re: Rasbiam ARMv7 optimization

does raspbian really have ARMv7 optimization? Where do you see the claim that it does? Raspbian is stock debian armhf recompiled for armv6. On top of that, the raspberry pi foundation adds tweaks on top. Some of those tweaks are optimized packages, mostly done by Collabora. I didn't ever see the CP...

Rasbiam ARMv7 optimization

Alright, folks, that's the question: does raspbian really have ARMv7 optimization? After 4 weeks of observations of raspbian on my RPi 2 I didn't ever see the CPU usage more than 40%. It's overclocked for 1 GHz ARM, 2 overvolts, 500 MHz core (standard rpi-config overclock for RPi 2). I think raspbia...
