Re: Running Zoom on RPi: made easy with Pi-Apps - the new RPi app store

There is absolutly no reason why installing Zoom would remove GIMP. That need to be fixex on PI-Apps side! For the sound, I noticed you are missing "pactl", wich comes with PulseAudio. Try to install it (I don't remember the package, but just typing the name on a console should give an hint) For the...

Re: Running Zoom video conferencing client on the Pi

It's now possible to run Zoom x86 linux client using Box86 https://github.com/ptitSeb/box86

Re: How to install Wine with Box86 on Retropie?

It looks like you are missing a reboot, so the binfmt that link x86 elf to box86 gets register.

Are you sure that "notepad.exe" is an x86 one? I'm a bit confused on current state of what works now???

Re: How to install Wine with Box86 on Retropie?

Strange, it should pickup box86 automatically if it has been installed with "sudo make install"
You can try this way:

Code: Select all

env WINEPREFIX=$HOME/winedotnet /home/pi/wine/bin/wine wineboot --init

Re: How to install Wine with Box86 on Retropie?

@hippy you probably need to add wine/bin in the PATH (the full path, like "export PATH=/home/pi/wine/bin:$PATH")

Re: How to install Wine with Box86 on Retropie?

I think you have ARM wine installed, because it use /usr/bin/wineserver, tha probably comes from a "sudo apt install wine" or something similar. ARM wine and x86 Wine don't mixe easily, if you indeed have arm wine, I suggest you remove it.

Re: How to install Wine with Box86 on Retropie?

You may need to go with winetricks for this install. In the twisteros discord, user @WheezyE found how to use it, so I'm quoting him: EDIT: I updated my above install steps with a script that installs and patches winetricks-20200412 for you. More info about this patch below... I'm running on Raspbia...

Good :D Glad you have it running. Enjoy windows app on Pi now (but remember, box86 is still young, not everything works at this stage).

Re: How to install Wine with Box86 on Retropie?

Yes, using apt will install ARM Wine, which is not what you want. You need x86 wine. Unfortunatly, there is no easy "apt" way to install it. So eaither have to compile it yourself on an x86 linux pc, or find one prebuilt. Fortunatly, even if you don't want to use twisteros, you can still grab the wi...

Re: STICKY: GAMES LIST: Games That Work On The Pi

Hi, New pi4 owner here, wonderful little device. Through a gog linux installer FTL works (one of my favourite games of all time): You can run FTL on a Pi4 with box86 https://github.com/ptitSeb/box86 . Give it a try, it's not that difficult to build it yourself, look at the README and COMPILE.md for...

Re: Running X86 on the PI:Emulation programs VS Chroot method

Well, yes. All app code is still emulated. That's why I try to also have an efficient x86 dynarec in box86. But for sure it's slower than native ARM code.

Re: Running X86 on the PI:Emulation programs VS Chroot method

You pretty much nailed it. Box86 aim is to emulated as less things as possible, where qemu aim is to create an emulated environnement as complete as possible. Different objectives here. One of the advandage of box86 also is that most library that need some "hardware" access are also wrapped: things ...

Re: BOX86 emulation problem: Cannot dlopen

The 2 TBB errors doesn' look good. All the dlopen that failled are maybe normal. The segfault at the end is not and it's the game crashing. I don't know why it does that, and I don't have the game in my library.

Sorry for yet more questions... Whenever I try to load a .wad file, such as doom.wad or megagame.wad, It completely ignores it. I put it in ~/.config/zandronum, I tried using -file in the command, but to no avail. It says I might have compiled wrong, so that could be the case, or I'm just ignoring ...

Re: Games on Pi

Box86 doesn't need a chroot to run, but it can use it to fetch libs that are not wrapped (like libstdc++.so). OpenGL is wrapped, so you have full hardware acceleration.

Re: Games on Pi

Did you watch the viideo I linked?

You need box86 and an x86 version of wine, then it just a mater of launching nfs3 with wine (that will use box86). Once Wine is there, it's pretty easy to launch. Use TwisterOS and everything is already pre-installed and ready to run.

I guess you are using box86 to run Steam. That error message is "normal", just press "ok" to continue. You can avoid it by defining "STEAMOS=1" environement variable. Note that steam is still a bit of hit and miss. It should work with box86, but may crash often. Also, remember that you need to use "...

You need latest box86, latest mesa, and some overclock for your Pi4. And you need to play in a small res.
(oh and for now, it hang when quitting, so you need to kill it to quit...)

But you can play!
