Re: Firefox vs Iceweasel huh?

Is the slowness native to the Debian system, or just across a VNC session?

Re: Automotive Ecu is it possible ?

I think it's funny how people get ahold of a Pi, play around with it a bit then start imagining how it could potentially do almost anything. Not a bad way to think, but as Clint Eastwood so astutely put it, "a man has got to know his limitations..."

Have you considered writing a new image to the SD Card?

Could we at least remove the "10" from this inaccurately named, and dare I say, inappropriately placed forum label?

Let me know when I've made my point and I'll stop. :D

Re: Microsoft IoT

There's still too much confusion in the press and elsewhere as to what "Windows 10 IoT" can do on the Pi :( There's little doubt in my mind it will do what they say it will do. Some things take time. Even with M$ behind it, affecting the hearts and minds of the hardware and software devout is at ti...

Re: Microsoft IoT

Sadly for you, you will still need to learn to read and research regardless of where your original post/request lands. Reading and research seems to be lost in the new way of doing things, its absence is particularly interesting given the educational intent of the Raspi Foundation. Yet the Foundati...

Sarcasm detected... 8-) Moved to correct ( Windows 10 for IoT ) forum, where this belongs... Just wondering why it doesn't belong under Operating Systems? I'll assume IoT is deliberately being marginalized inasmuch as is possible for either political reasons, or OS discrimination. Unless of course,...

Nope. Right derelict and stupid of me, correct? Guess I need to start spending alll day on this forum and learn it inside and out. Maybe you could request having it moved to the correct location? I'm sure there's something useful you might consider doing about it, what with your immense depth and br...

Re: Dead Simple : How similar is Raspbian to Debian?

Debian has always had firmware issues for nonfree device drivers for as long as I can remember, at least the past 5 stable releases I have used, so that's no biggie. They make it available, you just need to install it yourself. The NFS thing is a concern for me, because that is my NAS access. "Un" m...

Why wouldn't I just use straight Wheezy then, with native Debian armh Armv7 support?

Why not Jessie?

Exactly what are the "issues?"

Please don't respond if you don't know the answers to my questions.

Re: Dead Simple : How similar is Raspbian to Debian?

It's just that there are still some issues with using it on the Pi and the Foundation have decided (quite rightly) not to switch their images over to Jessie yet. I'm curious to know exactly what these "issues" are, as my new Pi2 sits untouched for some months now, awaiting the most appropriate OS t...

Deleted some messages that were less than civil. People be nice, or I have to lock this thread!  Sorry for stirring up any trouble. I did not look back in time to see them anyway. Re: is ubuntu snappy unofficial?

That Ubuntu is a bit old now and there are no more updates for it. So it seems a neglected system ends up broken, by whom? Meanwhile my colleagues never fail to moan about the modern Ubuntu GUI when ever they have to use it. Ubuntu offers a plethora of GUI'sS and WM's. Use the one you like - person...

Are you aware of small children who understand issues surrounding installation of operating systems to take advantage of the...

Certainly long-awaited great news! Now how long must I wait to get going with my new Pi2, and what is wrong with this picture?
