Updating DHCPCD?

Hi All,

I run DHCPCD on my raspbian (buster) box. It is running DHCPCD version 8.1.2, and the latest is 9.1.4. Whats the proper way to update given that APTGET is way behind? Just download the new binary and replace?

Cheers

WiFi signal strength monitoring?

Hi all, I want to keep tabs on the wifi network in my house to see how often I am getting dropouts. I have a pi that is wired into the network, and has its WiFi adapter disabled. Its currently using DHCPCD and DNSMASQ to provide dhcp and dns to the network, and that seems to work well for wired item...

Re: DHCPCD spamming error log

Found the entry in the syslog logging before it occurs, and there is nothing that is consistent with it. In fact, it just seems to be completely random.

Maybe I should look into systemd-networkd.... yes I am static with my PI. The process to swap out looks a bit of a pain though. Not too simple.

Re: DHCPCD spamming error log

Yep, disabled IPv6 in the boot options and also disabled it within the DHCPCD config as well. Still getting the messages. The time seems pretty random as well.

DHCPCD spamming error log

Hi Team, I have a raspberry pi that is my DHCP and DNS server for my home network. In general it works well, but every so often I can see that something goes wrong with the whole network. Looking into the issue, I have looked at the PIs error logs (/var/log/error), and it is getting spammed with... ...

Re: Problem Disk with ext4 (was NTFS)

Ok, I shall try gparted for it then. I used mini partition tool on my windows 10 machine to perform a surface scan and it came back clean.

Maybe that will sort it?

The only other thing I think I might have to do, is get a proper usb hub.

Problem Disk with ext4 (was NTFS)

So my external disk that is connected to the PI and to a USB power source is not playing ball whilst I zap it and set it up to use ext4. Previously I had been using the disk with NTFS and I decided to blat the whole disk and start again to get better performance from it. I have a backup of its conte...

Re: Pi 3 + Plex Server + WD Myclous NAS

Ok, so I followed that guide, and Plex is all working fine, plus I have added my photo library on my mounted external HDD. Why is plex caching loads of files to /Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Media? It has managed to fill the SD card with 1GB of data. When you add a photo location, d...

Re: B+ and Plex

Thats pretty much the same steps as the two guides I have used so far... https://www.htpcguides.com/install-plex-media-server-on-raspberry-pi-2/ https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-plex-server/ All of which works good for the 2 and 3, but I just want image serving on a Pi 1 B+. That code doesn't see...

B+ and Plex

Hi All, I've recently got board of how rubbish miniDLNA can be with the TVs in my house, and realised that most smart TVs have some sort of Plex app that you can run and hook up to a Plex Server. Given this, I thought that maybe I should chance my arm at running Plex to server up photos from my NAS ...

Re: Run a script before a service starts on bootup

Thats not what I meant. I mean I have a bash script that I have to run before the openvpn service starts (which it does today on boot) to configure a networking device (tun0) which an OpenVPN config is using. Without it the device isn't setup and thus the openvpn service fails to start. I am trying ...

Run a script before a service starts on bootup

On my PI i have OpenVPN and it is configured to run using a tun (bridge) interface. In order for this to work, I have to run a script that I have created before the OpenVPN service starts so that the tun interface can be setup and OpenVPN can then use it. If I start my box, and then run my script an...

WGET SSL Error

Hi Guys, I recently had to recover my PI from a backed up image, and post restore, I am noticing some issues with using wget with a HTTPS website. I don't know if it is related to the restore or not, so I though I would include that piece of information in case it is. Anyway, I am running... wget -d...

Re: MiniDLNA across subnets

Ok, I have got past the last error (as mentioned in previous posts). Basically, smcroute looks for IPV6, and if it isn't there then it basically says you can't do it. To get around this, I have enabled IPV6 as per here... http://weblog.aklmedia.nl/tag/raspberry-pi/ So, I am now getting the following...

Re: MiniDLNA across subnets

Hi guys, I have exactly the same issues with MiniDLNA and OpenVPN running on my setup. I want the uPnp broadcasts that MiniDNLA pushes out on to the LAN to also get pushed out to the VPN clients. I did try using a bridge setup with OpenVPN and that worked fine, however the OpenVPN client on Android ...
