My (current) Teacher Wishlist (from a developing country)

Thank you RPF for the Pi, Picademy and all the resources. I appreciate all that you've done and are doing to bring low cost technology to the masses. I teach high school sciences and technology in Port-de-Paix, Haiti. This year we replaced our aging Windows-centric computer lab environment with new ...

PiNet questions

Is there is a single forum for PiNet questions? I am trying to change the memory split. The PiNet documentation says to go to the 'other' menu, but my 'other' menu in PiNet does not match the video tutorial for customizing the config.txt file. Am I using a newer or older version of PiNet? Mine says ...

Re: Tutorial: Install Pinet on Ubuntu server

Thanks for posting this tutorial. I'm about to embark on a full Raspberry Pi lab and I've just downloaded the Ubuntu server image to get started with Pinet. Do you know if there is a web-based forum or group for Pinet users/admins? I have a few questions and there doesn't seem to be a good place to ...

Re: My Raspberry Pi class

Major Tom, thanks for all your words. Your posts about successes and failures are inspiring. I'm trying to put together the numbers for a Raspberry Pi space for next year.

Please keep your experiences coming they're quite helpful.

Re: All Pi - All the Time

I'm anxious to hear about this type of setup as well. We currently have 21 Windows computers in our school. Maintaining them is becoming a bigger job all the time. I am the high school sciences and tech teacher and I would like to switch over to only Raspberry Pi computers, using PiNet to manage the...

Re: New 8MP Camera - Q&A thread

My apologies if this question is too far off topic. I use a python script using picamera with the current 5MP camera on an A+ (256MB). I would love to upgrade my projects to the 8MP cameras, but can anyone tell me if I'll need to adjust the memory split or if I can expect a performance hit because I...

Re: GPIO button press not working

Thanks for having a look. Sorry, I should have been way more clear about its normal use. The script runs at startup. The 'ready LED' comes on. If you press the button attached to GPIO 23, the script will capture the image and save the file. If the button is not pressed for 8 minutes, it performs a s...

GPIO button press not working

I have some code for a camera project that has worked great in the past. I had some trouble with a solder joint on my RTC and fixed that and then reimaged my card with lastest Jessie (3-18) and put my camera script back on it. RTC is working fine which means I2C is working fine. GPIO 25 which turns ...

Re: Pi Academy Dates and Locations

Can I suggest a Pi Academy USA date that is during the summer? I am a full-time life sciences and technology educator in Haiti. I would love to attend Pi Academy but it would have to be during the summer while I am already in the United States. The costs associated with an extra trip and the time aw...

Re: camera shutdown timer help

I repower it, it appears to boot normally. The camera script runs as a crontab entry using @reboot. I get a $ prompt and then it seems to initiate another shutdown. It's all on the bench in my classroom right now. Tomorrow is Labor Day, so no classes. We'll have a close look at the screen. Perhaps w...

camera shutdown timer help

Hi, My daughter and I are working on a camera project together. We've got an A+ working with the camera, an Adafruit PowerBoost 500 charger, a RTC module, and a 2500mAh lithium pack . We're just taking still images using picamera. Our goal now is two fold, 1) start the python script and after some m...
