Re: Uses in Amateur Radio

Has anyone tried taking a cheap ham radio (LIke a Baofeung), taking it apart and somehow directly connecting it to a Raspberry Pi to run digital Amateur Radio communications?

Re: I made a Raspberry PI Laptop

Very true. I have lx music downloaded, it has a song included with it.

I tried the modification on my RetroPie card, now I'm happily playing Mario Bros........ With sound!! Yippee!! I forgot about my speakers needing to POP before they will work. I will keep working on my Raspbian card.

Re: I made a Raspberry PI Laptop

Neat stuff. I did that, still no sound. I also updated the framebuffers and rebooted. I am typing this from the PiTop now, and I'm loving it!! so much easier to type on than my 15 inch monstrosity of a laptop.

Re: I made a Raspberry PI Laptop

I didn't realize there were so many options within options, lol! Thank you. Now, about sound. I know my lapdock's speakers work. I know my pi's HDMI sound works. I have no idea what's going on that the 2 won't talk to each other enough to pass sound. But I was curious to know if I could plug an exte...

Re: I made a Raspberry PI Laptop

"Just use the standard keyboard, 105 key, and set it to your country. Also make sure Locales is setup also. You might as well do the time zone while you are in there!" I think its listed as a generic keyboard. I saw several Motorola keyboards listed, but I'm not sure what this one is. As far as loca...

Re: I made a Raspberry PI Laptop

My WiFi dongle is actually working better now than it ever has.... I'm downloading the Pi Store app now. I can't wait till the next Ham club meeting, my little brother's science teacher has a Pi club after school, and came to talk to us about how amateur radio can be used with the Pi. Now that the P...

Re: Horrifying USB error count

Has this ever been fixed? I too am having USB error messages on startup of raspbian with the y lapdock cable. Watching my boot script it says something about a 'low power USB device'.......and it eventually quits trying to connect the data side of the y cable...so no keyboard or mouse. The power sid...

Re: I made a Raspberry PI Laptop

I thought a wire may have pulled loose too. Red and black is going to USB power plug. White and green is going to USB A port. A black wire from the USB A is connected with the other black wires, because when I didn't have it connected I had power fluctuations. I took it all apart and resoldered ever...

Re: I made a Raspberry PI Laptop

Quick question. I followed the wiring setup for the USB cables exactly as drawn. The pi gets power, but the keyboard and mouse won't work. I get several 'low power USB device' error messages on boot up. What did I do wrong? I have tried hooking up both a B+ and a RPi2B. Keyboard/mouse won't work wit...

Re: How do I connect to a home network

by paul42 » Mon Jan 28, 2013 7:44 pm In the gui click on file manager. From the GO menu click on Network Drives. In my case I then see my Windows Network which I double click on to explore. Don't click in the left hand pane or you will be back to your local files again. Ok.... so I can see the Windo...
