Re: Copying to smaller SD card

This is a good argument for not making your main Linux non-data partition bigger than the smallest 8 gig sdcard out there. You can have a separate partition or drive for the /home . Programs that operate in place, don't use files that are spread all over the place, can even be put into the /opt dir...

Copying to smaller SD card

Hi all, I made an image that I now wish to copy onto a few 8GB microSD cards -- everything is all configured and I'd rather not have to do it over again. Unfortunately the card I used to set it up was a 32GB card. If I use Win32DiskImager to create an image, it makes a 32GB image even though there i...

Re: /etc/network/interfaces keeps reverting to dhcp (BerryBo

If I have to do it that way, I can.. but unfortunately my router only allows me to assign IP addresses permanently via DHCP if the address is within the alotted DHCP block. DHCP is set to assign addresses from 10.0.0.10 - 10.0.0.99 but the address I want to give to the pi is 10.0.0.152 Obviously it ...

Re: /etc/network/interfaces keeps reverting to dhcp (BerryBo

Thanks for the response! I don't need vnc or to be headless, but I did try the ipv4 entry in cmdline.txt, both with and without the vncinstall preceding. This didn't seem to affect anything -- it still has the ip address from DHCP, which does work, but I want the address to be specific so I can SSH ...

/etc/network/interfaces keeps reverting to dhcp (BerryBoot)

Greetings, I have BerryBoot installed which is working great for me, but with one problem. I can't figure out how to set a static IP address under BerryBoot. Normally I would go to a command prompt and add the static information into /etc/network/interfaces -- but when I do this from the console und...

Re: Help with maintaining mounted smb file location

Thanks for the responses, looks like changing the folder owner back to root did the trick. I had thought the folder needed the write permissions to match, I didn't realize the owner settings in fstab would override the filesystem permissions, although I guess it does make sense that they do. So now ...

Re: Help with maintaining mounted smb file location

I should add that the worst part of this is that each time it happens, after I SSH in to mount the share again and restart the deluge daemon, it has to recheck all my completed torrents over smb. The network speed is totally adequate for saving and seeding torrents, but re-checking half of a TB of d...

Help with maintaining mounted smb file location

Hi, I did a couple searches but there are a lot of threads about SIMILAR issues that I couldn't quite put together to solve mine, so figured I'd post a thread more specific. I've got Deluge 1.3 running headless under Wheezy, administering using the ThinClient and SSH for command line stuff. I create...

Re: BerryBoot Ready Squashed Images

OK I went ahead and did it myself. The squashfs images of v3.0 Final for rpi1 and rpi2 both seem to be working fine for me. Shared here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B1JUgtYeUjCQfldCZDNGcHRwWDhidk4taDFfcnpHMjVJZVo0OWdOUEVfM2hFbU1KUzNKTUU BTW I converted these on the RPi2 under Fedora -- i...

Re: Monitor power management in RPi 2?

I'm really surprised this isn't a bigger deal for people.. I know I can technically turn off the monitor manually, and that it might seem nitpicky to be annoyed by having to do so, but I really haven't had to regularly "turn off" a monitor in something like 20 years, so it is surprisingly hard to ge...

Monitor power management in RPi 2?

Hi all, I am thinking of picking up a Raspberry Pi 2, but I'm wondering if my biggest issue with the raspberry as a practical computer has been resolved -- that is -- the lack of monitor power management. I want it to be able to cut signal to my monitor so it goes into standby mode, like how most ot...
