How large does your image get? I think raspbian img is about 900 megs, but after installing it I had 300 megs left on my 4 GB SD card. So if your image ends up being well over 4 GB that seems about right. It's just not as well compressed as the 900mb raspbian image. My solution... I just have a shor...

Do you have the option to test the same cards in a different Pi 2? It's possible that the SD card reader isn't functioning. It's also possible that the SD cards are not supported. Some work and some don't. You can google what cards are supported. There are also fake cards, so I wouldn't get my cards...

There are other USB chargers with cable attached, but there's no way to tell which one is good.
The only charger that I know is popular among dutch Pi users is the Velleman I've already bought 2 of.

Yea I tried to make sure it's actually a faulty Pi before sending it back, but I guess that's all there's left to do right now.
It's prob cheaper for the RPi Foundation to throw it away then to spend more then 20 minutes troubleshooting.
